Bennett provides a rustic atmosphere just outside Denver

When drivers trek along Colorado State Highway 36, Bennett’s main thoroughfare, they’re greeted by the Roggen Farmers Elevator Association’s towering grain facility and plenty of wide-open spaces. It’s a rural setting that could make people forget that Bennett is just 35 miles east of Denver. This is an area where buyers can find tranquility and a relatively affordable home, while still a stone’s throw from the big city. “It’s close enough to commute into the city for all your work or entertainment needs,” says Emily Burch, a Realtor with eXp Realty who lives nearby. “But you still get a small-town feel and affordability.”

Established and modern homes can offer value

Some of Bennett’s houses date back to the early 20th century. However, recently built options are available in subdivisions like Sky View and Bennett Village. “The amount of new construction is just booming,” says Burch, who credits space and affordability for the growth. Bennett’s assortment of bungalows, ranch-style homes and new traditional builds line a variety of quiet, sidewalk-lined streets. Lots often stretch from about one-tenth to one-fifth of an acre. Prices usually range between $290,000 and $600,000, which is cheaper on average than in Denver.
