Beverly suburb with commuter and downtown access
Gloucester Crossing, 24 miles northeast of Boston, is a Beverly community that offers locally owned businesses, green spaces and public transportation. "Gloucester Crossing is part of downtown," says Betsy Woods, a Realtor with Leading Edge Real Estate, who has over 20 years of experience. "It's been revitalized — lots of new shops and restaurants." The neighborhood's multifamily homes are popular with renters, and public schools are within a mile. "We have the beaches right on the coast, and trains so people can get into Boston easily," Woods says. "You get bang for your buck."
The landscape of Gloucester Crossing consists of a small, working-class neighborhood characterized by its close-knit feel and convenient proximity to both downtown Beverly and the city’s scenic waterfront.
Multifamily homes and townhouses are common throughout Gloucester Crossing, offering residents a mix of affordable, community oriented living options within the neighborhood.

Charming Cape Cods and multifamily dwellings
Single-family homes are generally from the early 20th century. "We have all different types of homes," Woods says. "The majority are older Capes that have been renovated, but we have some new construction." Most homes are clustered close together along narrow streets lined with sidewalks and parked cars; typical features include front porches, short driveways and horizontal siding — wood or vinyl — often shaded in muted pastels like powder blue, seafoam and buttercream. Prices for these homes generally range from $500,000 to $900,000, depending on a home's size and renovation needs. The median home price here is $725,000, compared to $825,000 in Boston. "Our prices are high, but Boston is more expensive," Woods says.
Most residents here are renters, though, which creates opportunities for property investors. Multifamily homes, including duplexes, townhomes and condo or apartment buildings, are common and range from $400,000 to $1 million, depending on the number of units.
Gloucester Gloucester Crossing features traditional small Cape Cod style homes, adding classic charm to the neighborhood’s residential landscape.
Multifamily homes in Gloucester Crossing are especially popular with both renters seeking convenient, community oriented living and property investors attracted by the neighborhood’s strong rental appeal.

Dozens of restaurants in downtown Beverly
"Downtown's been growing," Woods says. "There are a lot of new restaurants that have popped up." Stephy's Kitchen is a laid-back diner that serves homestyle brunch fare, including fluffy blueberry pancakes and cinnamon French toast. Flip the Bird is a fast-casual lunch spot serving buttermilk-fried chicken, honey butter biscuits and homemade slaw. For groceries, there's a Stop & Shop.
About a mile away, Rantoul Street is lined with bars, cafes and locally owned restaurants with flavors from around the world, including Chinese, Dominican and Indian. Takumi Ramen is a cozy highlight with an authentic Japanese menu. For after dinner, Jacob's Corner is a penny-tiled pub across the street that serves Guinness on draft. There are also a handful of mom-and-pop shops; residents can dig for vinyl at Bridge Nine Records, treasure hunt at Beverly Bootstraps Thrift Shop and find vintage clothing at Second Rodeo Vintage. "And we have three or four breweries now," Woods says. "Twice a year, they have the Beverly Beer Mile, where you go from brewery to brewery."
Gloucester Crossing customers flock to Flip the Bird for its crave worthy fried chicken sandwiches, served up hot, crispy, and packed with bold flavors in a laid back, casual setting.
Azad's Barbershop keeps Gloucester Crossing residents looking sharp and feeling their best, offering friendly service and quality grooming in the heart of the neighborhood.

Events include fireworks, music and beloved traditions like LobsterFest, which focuses on seafood, games, music and a kids' costume contest. "It draws hundreds of people every year," Woods says. "All types of music are going on — it's an all-day event."
