New England-style homes on modest lots
Modest vernacular homes sit on proportioned lots and tree-lined streets, creating a suburban feel. “Ryal Side has predominantly Cape Cods and smaller homes,” Woods says, adding that many are tucked on waterfront properties. “A lot of cottages have been converted to beautiful homes along the water.” New England architectural styles are most common, scattered alongside bungalows and Neo-Victorian homes that blend classic Queen Anne facades with contemporary elements. Prices for single-family homes start at $425,000 and can fetch up to $1.25 million for stout waterfront residences. Townhouses typically range between $580,000 and $740,000. Woods says that while Ryal Side is affluent, its prices remain reasonable compared to surrounding neighborhoods. “It’s not the most expensive part of town, but it’s still very desirable,” she says.Outdoor recreation at nearby pocket parks including Obear Park
Pocket parks ranging in size are scattered across Ryal Side, providing outdoor space and recreational opportunities for locals. “We have beautiful parks and lots of green space,” Woods says, noting that many tracts feature sports courts and other amenities. Obear Park is a popular destination for its waterside views and walkways, and the park also offers a playground and various athletic courts, including hybrid pickleball and tennis courts, a baseball diamond and a basketball court. Herlihy Park and Femino Park offer additional sporting amenities. Golfers may delight in the neighborhood’s proximity to the private course at Kerwood Country Club, just south of the neighborhood, and the public amenities at Beverly Golf & Tennis Club north of Ryal Side.Strong education in Beverly Public Schools

The Ryal Side Civic Association is responsible for many of the neighborhood’s events and social gatherings, which include seasonal favorites like an Easter egg hunt in the spring. “The big one is the Fourth of July Parade,” Woods says. “The whole community shows up for it. Everyone comes out to watch the parade, which goes down Bridge Street and ends at Obear Park with a big family fest.” The celebration consists of food trucks and kid-friendly activities like face painting, and the night tops off with fireworks.Connections to Boston by car or train

This major route connects commuters to Boston, about 22 miles south, though the drive may take up to an hour with traffic. Commuters may also take the Newbury/Rockport train line south into Boston.
