Suburban community with unique local stores minutes away from UAB
Crestwood North is a suburban neighborhood in Birmingham, one half of the wider Crestwood community which is divided by the Georgia Railroad and Crestwood Boulevard. The northern portion was developed at the turn of the 20th century as the community of Woodlawn Heights and has since become one of many up-and-coming suburban communities with a straight shot to UAB and the downtown area. "When my family and I were looking for a house, I knew I didn't want a long commute. Thankfully, Crestwood North is definitely conveniently located to downtown," says Councilor Darrell O'Quinn, who represents Birmingham's District 5. He is also the former Neighborhood Association President of Crestwood North and has been a community resident for over 20 years. "For many years, I commuted from Crestwood North to my previous job at UAB by bike —my car just sat in my driveway. And with the expansions added to our trail system, it's more convenient and accessible to cyclists."
