Eastwood
Brimming with regional dining and national retailers
Eastwood has several regional chains that are popular among locals. The Juicy Seafood is a local Alabama dining franchise offering fresh options, from succulent lobster and crab to oysters and scallops. There's also Pancho's Mexican Grill, which serves up comforting staples amid colorful, vibrant décor. A Casual counter-service chain, American Deli, can also be found in the area.Shopping for daily necessities is made easy with a Walmart Supercenter at the Eastwood Village Shopping Center. The center also includes a Ross Dress for Less, Party City and Five Below. The commercial corridor has several retail plazas with clothing shops and storefronts, including the Village East Shopping Center and Crestwood Festival Center. Eastwood also has an Amazon distribution facility on the northwestern side that opened a few years ago.
Buying a home in one of Birmingham's commercial corridors
Aside from apartments and a suburban pocket near the neighborhood school, most homes lay on the other side of Montclair Road. Residential areas have modest homes with front yards reaching the curb. Eastwood's homes are constructed as far back as the 1930s, but most properties include midcentury modern styles from the 1950s to the 1970s. Potential buyers will see ranch houses, split levels and Craftsman cottages. On average, homes enter the market between $150,000 to $350,000.Outdoor hiking and high school football
Proximity to Ruffner Mountain is a defining aspect of living in Eastwood. Managed by a local nonprofit, the sprawling greenspace offers over 1,000 acres of urban forest that connects the area to neighborhoods through 14 miles of trails. Through membership, locals can participate in hiking groups and EcoArts programs. Nature enthusiasts may also flock to Flora Johnston Nature Park to enjoy the 2.2-mile loop trail. The pathway is dog-friendly and not very crowded, providing a peaceful experience. Hikers can relax by the creek and enjoy the woodland landscape.Birding is another excellent option at the park, housing many species of sparrows, wren and blackbirds. Sports fans can head to Lawson Field Stadium, a 7,500-seat lighted football stadium. Built during the late 1960s, the stadium serves as the playing grounds for local high school football teams. The stadium was once the home field for the Birmingham Steel Magnolias women's football team.

However, bus stops for the city's Max Transit system are dotted along Montclair Road.
