Huffman

1950s ranch-style homes on Huffman's rolling hills
Most Huffman homes were built during the 1950s when the neighborhood was first annexed into Birmingham. Sloping residential streets wind through rolling hills and peaceful woodlands. Leafy oak trees tower above the low-pitched roofs of established prairie and ranch-style homes. While there are no sidewalks, Huffman’s wide streets and quiet cul-de-sac communities make it easy for residents to go on an evening stroll with neighbors. Homes here range in price from $45,000 to $265,000.Only 15 minutes from "The Magic City"
Downtown commuters avoid hefty parking fees by taking the 45-minute bus ride from Parkway East. Drivers can follow this route to US 11 and arrive in “The Magic City” in about 15 minutes. On the east side of Huffman, Ascension St. Vincent’s East Medical Center borders Interstate 59. This four-lane freeway brings locals to Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport in less than 15 minutes. In addition to Downtown Bham, Nixon says, "Huffman is just over 5 minutes from the new entertainment district in Trussville."Familiar restaurant chains and local businesses on Parkway East
Residents can find a wide selection of fresh meats and other everyday groceries at Meat Depot in the Parkway East shopping center. Next door, hotspot Huffman is the best place in town to order hot buffalo wings. National fast-food chains and other local restaurants are found further down Parkway East. After a long work week, locals look forward to grabbing a drink and playing a round of pool with friends at Iron City Billiards.
The local little league practices on the fields at Huffman Roebuck Park
Tom Bradford Park offers a peaceful place for residents to get some fresh air. Kids can climb on the monkey bars and run around the soccer field while parents watch from the park’s loop walking track. On the opposite side of the neighborhood, Huffman Roebuck Park is a parent-run athletic complex home to the local youth baseball team. From here, residents can follow a dirt pathway to play an 18-hole round on the Roebuck Municipal Golf Course.Huffman Academy was established in the 1878
Huffman students can attend Birmingham City Schools beginning in Pre-K at Huffman Academy. Rated a C-minus on Niche, this local elementary school has been serving the greater community since 1878. Sixth graders move on to Huffman Middle School, which scores a D-plus on Niche. Huffman High receives a C-minus and offers an industry-based curriculum where students can take specialized classes and learn valuable career skills.
