Maple Grove is a small suburban neighborhood in Birmingham’s Airport Hills community, comprising just over 300 acres. Much of the greater Airport Hills area was slowly annexed into Birmingham from the mid-to-late-20th century. Residents live in original and updated pre-war bungalows and post-war ranch-style homes. Storefronts and restaurants around the Roebuck neighborhood are a short drive away, as are some of Birmingham’s largest public park spaces.

Tennis and basketball in nearby Pine Knoll Park and hiking in East Lake

Pine Knoll Park is just a mile west of the neighborhood, with a small playground and tennis and basketball courts. The Brownsville Heights Community Center is also nearby, offering arts and crafts rooms and multipurpose event spaces. Roebuck Municipal Golf Course is one of the oldest in Alabama, just a 3-mile drive from Maple Grove. East Lake Park is the same distance south, offering outdoor gym equipment, athletic fields and a walking path surrounding its 45-acre artificial lake. Maple Grove's corner store and big name storefronts along Parkway East

Korney Cupboard is the only retailer in the neighborhood, but larger storefronts are just 3 miles away along Parkway East. National supermarket chains like Walmart and ALDI are available, as are fast food chains like Krispy Kreme and Hardee’s. Another fast food option is Milo’s, a Central Alabama chain that serves hamburgers and is known for its signature sauce and sweet tea. A chain in the area local to Birmingham is The Crab Barrack, which specializes in classic seafood dishes and craft cocktails. Residents can head to Maple Grove Neighborhood Association meetings and other community gatherings

The Maple Grove Neighborhood Association meets on the 1st Monday of every month at the Brownsville Heights Community Center. Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church and Living Stones Temple are two neighborhood churches hosting regular services. Crafts and locally sourced produce are sold from East Lake Farmer’s Market vendors, hosted at the East Lake United Methodist Church every Saturday.
