Park Hill’s homes are surrounded by popular parks and retail hubs
At first glance, Park Hill looks like any other small neighborhood in Bismarck. It has single-family homes, but the amenities that surround residential streets add flair to this little community. Given its name, Park Hill is unsurprisingly home to several green spaces, but its standout feature is that it borders Sertoma Park. Considered one of the city’s most popular places, residents have near-immediate access to outdoor facilities, city attractions and the Missouri River. The community is also near a major highway, a popular mall and downtown Bismarck. So, while Park Hill’s residential landscape may be less grand than other neighborhoods, locals are blocks away from bustling commercial centers and recreational hubs.

Sertoma Park has river trails and the state’s only roller coaster
“Park Hill is next door to definitely the best park in Bismarck,” says Austin Muth, a co-founding Realtor of Genesis Realty who has sold homes in the area. “It’s like Central Park vibes over there.” People strolling along Sertoma Park’s trails pass a sprawling riverfront, flat prairies, mature trees and busy playgrounds. Sports leagues play sand volleyball, tennis, pickleball and baseball, and the park is also home to Super Slide Amusement Park and the Dakota Zoo. The amusement park has everything from a mini golf course and carnival games to North Dakota’s only roller coaster. Dakota Zoo has more than 600 animals, educational demonstrations, train rides and summer camps. Inside the neighborhood, Bismarck Municipal Ball Park stays packed throughout baseball season. In winter, Legion Skating Rink opens in front of the ballpark for ice-skating and pickup hockey. Nearby, Kiwanis Park and Zonta Park have playgrounds, walking paths and picnic shelters.

Park Hill's homes and condos have less expensive price tags
“It’s more of a starter home community,” says Muth. “It’s a mixed bag over there with single-family homes, condos and twin homes.” Apartments, homes for rent and manufactured homes are also part of the community. Condos are usually part of a larger complex, while ranch-style homes, bungalows and split-level houses stand alone. Mature trees shade small yards in summer, and towering evergreens add a little color to the neighborhood during heavy snowfall. Roads are wide enough for street parking, but houses usually have a driveway. Home prices typically range between $90,000 and $300,000.
