The Highland Lake Park Reserve is a natural gem of the Bloomington area and provides locals with a wide range of outdoor activities. The park is home to a serene lake perfect for canoe launching, along with a ski area, an 18-hole disc golf course and over 17 miles of hiking trails that wind through peaceful woodlands and restored grasslands. Just west of Highland Lake Park Reserve is Bush Lake Park, where three picnic shelters and sandy beach welcomes visitors. For some off-leash exercise, four-legged friends can be found frolicking on the 25 acres of fenced in field, rolling hills and pond that make up the Bloomington Dog Park. Golfers find three courses within West Bloomington with Dwan Golf Course serving the community since 1970 with its public, beautifully maintained 18-hole course.
