Blue River is a small town surrounded by mountains and hiking trails
Located at the base of the Ten Mile Range in the Rocky Mountains, Blue River is a secluded residential community surrounded by nature and centered on its namesake waterway. “Blue River has evolved with the buildout of town, getting more second homeowners than full-time,” says Michelle Eddy, Blue River’s Town Manager and Clerk. “However, it has been able to maintain its natural mountain environment and that rural mountain feel.” Homes tend to sit on expansive wooded lots, and the proximity to hiking trails and fishing at the private, residents-only Goose Pasture Tarn ensures locals have plenty of places to enjoy the landscape. Since there isn’t any retail space, locals drive 5 miles on Highway 9 to neighboring towns like Breckenridge for local shopping and restaurants.
