Luxury country club living in west Boca Raton

Boca Grove is a resort-like gated community in west-central Boca Raton, sought-after for its upscale country club amenities, top-rated schools and convenient location. “It’s a private club, with membership requirements and annual dues, which can be quite expensive. It’s definitely for the elite,” says Re/Max Realtor Ed Lepselter, who has decades of experience. “Beyond the club amenities, the location is the draw. It’s central Boca, close to world-class restaurants, shops and beaches.”

Diverse housing options, from condos to custom estates

The neighborhood comprises seven subdivisions. Chateau and Gardens in the Grove are apartment-style condo communities, while Los Rayos is a blend of townhomes and zero-lot-line single-family homes. The remaining sections feature New Traditional and Contemporary single-family homes, some with golf course views. “Some gated communities are just single-family homes, but this has variety, and it makes the neighborhood more diverse because it suits a wider variety of people,” Lepselter says. Condo and townhome prices start close to $110,000 and climb to about $550,000. Single-family homes typically range from $745,000 to over $6 million, with custom-built estates sitting at the top end of the spectrum. While flood risk here is relatively low, compared to coastal Boca Raton neighborhoods, wind damage can be a concern during hurricane season.

Boca Grove community amenities and more outdoor recreation

Private community amenities include an 18-hole Jim Fazio-designed golf course and The Curve, a 13,000-square-foot sports and wellness center. The gym has exercise equipment and multipurpose rooms for group fitness classes like Pilates and spinning. Daily childcare services are available at The Hive, which also hosts summer and holiday camps. Outside, there’s an Olympic-sized pool, tennis/pickleball courts, a splash pad and a playground. Walk-on oceanfront beach access at Red Reef Park is less than 8 miles east. Burt Aaronson South County Regional Park, on the edge of the Everglades a few miles east, is a nearly 900-acre recreational area with a nature center, athletic fields, trails and more.

Highly rated Palm Beach County schools

The School District of Palm Beach County offers controlled open enrollment, but the neighborhood’s zoned schools are Del Prado Elementary, Omni Middle and Spanish River Community High. The elementary and middle schools earn A-minus grades from Niche. Spanish River, which gets an A-plus, has an early childhood teacher education in-house program and several choice academies, including biotechnology, law and entrepreneurship. Saint Andrew’s School is a private Episcopal school for kindergarten through 12th grade nearby.

Close to Florida’s Turnpike, PalmTran bus stops

Florida’s Turnpike connects north to West Palm Beach and south toward Fort Lauderdale and Miami. Palm Beach International Airport and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport are both about 30 miles away; the drives take under 40 minutes, depending on traffic. “In winter, the traffic is heavier because of the snowbirds, but overall it’s easy to get around. Not as bad as Orlando, certainly,” Lepselter says. PalmTran provides bus service to the area. Routes picking up from stops on Glades Road run to destinations like West Boca Medical Center and Town Center Mall.

High-end shopping/dining in nearby Mizner Park, on-site dining options

Mizner Park, close to the coast in downtown Boca Raton, is an upscale, walkable shopping, dining and entertainment district. Live performances and other events take place at the Mizner Park Cultural Center. The amphitheater hosts the Summer in the City concert series. “There’s plenty of high-end shopping and restaurants in the area,” Lepselter says. One of his favorite downtown eateries is Trattoria Romana, a Roman taverna-style Italian restaurant a few blocks east of Mizner Boulevard. Boca Grove also has an on-site option for upscale dining: Windows, the community’s formal dining room. Casual on-site eateries include the lounge-style Grove Room, Honeybell Café and Chippers, a lively sports bar. Big box retailers and grocery stores, like HomeGoods and Publix, are available on the nearby Glades Road commercial corridor.
