Parks and golf courses close to Augusta Village
With the number of parks in the neighborhood, some could be within walking distance of Augusta Village residents. Champions Park is nearly 9 acres with a playground, a walking path and a hexagon-shaped basketball court with three hoops. The Bolingbrook Park District recently renovated the playground equipment at Century Park. Other features added within the past three years are pickleball courts and improved access to the lakes in the park to increase fishing opportunities. Lilac and Veterans Parks both have large open areas for soccer matches. Golfers can tee it up at Naperbrook Golf Course, which has challenging holes, hidden bunkers and water obstacles. Cold weather is no obstacle for water fun at Pelican Harbor Indoor/Outdoor Aquatic Park. The indoor park has two water slides and a zero-depth entry area. The outdoor park has a lazy river, four water slides and a beach volleyball area. The park is 2 miles to the east.Bolingbrook or Aurora Schools
Most children living in Augusta Village are served by the Valley View School District, based in Bolingbrook. Pioneer Elementary School is in the neighborhood, and then move on to Brooks Middle School. Both schools earn a B-plus grade on Niche and have a low student-teacher ratio. The elementary school is 12-to-1, while Brooks Middle is at 10-to-1. Bolingbrook High School gets an A-minus and has a Library Media Center that offers a quiet studying space during the school day, including the lunch hour. Kids in the neighborhood’s western section could attend schools in the Aurora-based Indian Prairie School District, with access to schools rated an A-plus. Builta Elementary, Gordon Gregory Middle and Neuqua Valley High Schools are part of the 13th-best school district in the state, according to Niche.Roomy, contemporary houses in Augusta Village
Living in the neighborhood means mandatory participation in the homeowners’ association. “Fees are assessed yearly and total $330,” Schmidt says. “The money is used to keep the neighborhood parks clean.” Specific rules must be followed, including getting permission for any improvements or additions to the house. Most of the houses were built in the early 2000s. “These are newer homes with really nice, quality construction,” says Keith Dickerson, a broker with Compass. Contemporary houses range from $400,000 to $800,000, with four to five bedrooms and, on average, 3,000 square feet. The neighborhood streets usually have sidewalks and mature trees on both sides. The neighborhood is quiet, with a 2 on the CAP crime score index, below the national average of 4. Some homes close to the lakes at Century Park may be prone to flooding after heavy rains.Chicago/Bolingbrook International Airport
Less than 2 miles east is the Chicago/Bolingbrook International Airport, also called Clow International Airport. The airport started in the 1950s as a grass strip on a farm. Though it has the name International Airport, it’s between a neighborhood cul-de-sac and a main north/south corridor and has only one paved runway. It’s a general aviation airport with over 70,000 landings and take-offs annually, making it one of the state’s busiest facilities of its kind. The International part of the name refers to the broad ethnicity of the Chicago area rather than the airport’s size. “You can’t board a commercial jet at this airport and fly somewhere,” Schmidt says. “It’s mainly small aircraft, but there is some corporate jet traffic.” The airport is also home to the Illinois Aviation Museum, depicting a variety of aircraft and historical artifacts. Larger commercial airports are O’Hare International, 35 miles north and Midway International, about 25 miles to the east. The nearest Metra commuter rail station is in Romeoville, about 7 miles southeast. The neighborhood is 6 miles west of Interstate 355 and 4 miles north of Interstate 55.Shopping and dining close to Chicago/Bolingbrook Airport
Weber Road, east of the airport, is where most shopping and dining options are. It’s just a 2-mile drive from the neighborhood. Shopping plazas along the road have big box stores and places to get groceries, like Target, Home Depot, Meijer and Jewel-Osco. Eating-out options include Bulldog Ale House, which serves classic pub grub, and The Patio, a barbecue restaurant with indoor seating and a patio vibe. There’s also plenty of outdoor seating available.
