Plainfield East High School has a 98% average graduation rate and is rated an A. Students at the school can be part of the Model U.N., Mathletes or the Crochet & Knitting Club. Contemporary traditional and modern ranch-style houses range from $350,000 to $600,000 and have between 2,000 and 4,000 square feet. “In Bolingbrook, families sometimes use the area as a stepping stone to get to Naperville, but there are also plenty of people who stay,” says Raelisa Schmidt, a real estate agent with HomeSmart Realty Group based in nearby Naperville. The neighborhood has a CAP crime score of 1 out of 10, lower than the national average of 4.

A circular triple-hoop basketball court at Sunset Park
With most of it being a large open space that’s fit for a soccer game, Sunset Park also has a sand volleyball court and a circular basketball court with three hoops. It’s a short drive west to take advantage of the public course at Bolingbrook Golf Club. The course hosted the individual championships for the LIV tour, the professional golf organization formed a couple of years ago as an alternative to the PGA. Those championships were held in September 2024. Although a public course, people can purchase memberships that include unlimited golf, discounts at the pro shop and access to the fitness center.

Large employers close to Sunset Park-Old Plank
Several industrial buildings are located between Rodeo Drive and Interstate 55 to the south and across Weber Road to the east. Some of these are large employers, including Amazon, Ulta Beauty, Walmart and La-Z-Boy. Some houses in the southern part of the neighborhood get an active sound score grade on the First Street website, mainly for their proximity to the distribution centers that drive a lot truck traffic.
Sunset Park-Old Plank is home to a large industrial complex off Rodeo Drive.

Salerno’s Pizza has been in the Chicago area for over 50 years. One of the original suburban locations is still at the corner of Rodeo Drive and Weber Road. Downtown Chicago is about 35 miles away via Interstate 55. Commuters can reach the interstate easily as it's 2 miles south of the neighborhood. The closest Metra train station is 7 miles to the southeast in Romeoville. For commercial flights, Chicago O’Hare International Airport is 35 miles. Chicago/Bolingbrook’s Clow International Airport is a general aviation facility 3 miles north on Weber Road. “One of the best events there is the Cavalcade of Planes,” Vanden Brook says. “There are vintage aircraft and helicopter rides. The whole thing is a blast.” It’s a two-day event that occurs in early June. The airport has one paved runway, but there is plenty of small aircraft traffic, with over 70,000 landings and take-offs annually. The closest hospital is University of Chicago Medicine AdventHealth Bolingbrook, 3 miles away.
Residents can use the Metra located in nearby Romeoville to be in Chicago in only 45 minutes.
Bolingbrook's Clow International Airport is just 3-miles north of Sunset Park-Old Plank.
