Brownlee, Greenacres and Oak Alley homes
The Brownlee-Honore area offers a variety of home styles, from modest single-levels to custom multi-story new builds. Says Stapf-Tolisano, “Homes in Brownlee Estates can be a bit smaller and older, so the price point is a bit lower, but they’re very well-maintained. Greenacres Place homes tend to be larger or on bigger lots. So, you can really find price points that would suit most everybody, from $220,000 up to $500,00.” The gated Oak Alley subdivision, which is closest to the community’s hospital and shopping, offers four-bedroom contemporary stucco and brick homes built from the 1990s to new construction. Oak Alley homes feature elegant designs, ranging from $580,000 to $2 million, many with heated backyard pools and circular driveways. Yards and landscaping throughout the community are nicely tended, and sidewalk-lined streets often curve into cul-de-sacs. Some cul-de-sacs have central green spaces with a shade tree or two.North Bossier Park amenities
North Bossier Park is the community’s recreation hub, offering multiple lit tennis courts, soccer fields for youth league athletes, and several canopy-shaded playgrounds and picnic pavilions. A paved walking trail here is also popular for dog-walking or a relaxing stroll. Although the Red River runs along the community’s western edge, it’s not typically busy with swimmers or kayakers; however, local anglers can find spots to cast a line.Bossier Parish Tech and good public schools
Public schools are within the Bossier Parish Public Schools District, which Niche gives an A-minus grade. Kids may start at Apollo Elementary School, which also earns a Niche A-minus, and then move on to Greenacres Middle, given a Niche B grade. Older students advance to Airline High School, which earns an A-minus from Niche, or opt to attend Bossier Parish Technical School. BPTC allows students to dual enroll with Bossier Parish Community College and Louisiana Technical College, earning college credits to earn an associate degree or technical diploma upon graduation.Car is best
Public transportation is not readily available in Brownlee-Honore, so most residents commute to work or reach area destinations by car. The Shreveport International Airport is approximately 15 miles southwest.Belk, Ross and Walk-On's in one plaza
A host of dining and shopping choices are right in the neighborhood along Airline Drive and in the Stirling Bossier Shopping Center. Locals shop Sam’s, Belk, Ross and other big-box stores in the same plaza. Families and sports fans head to Walk-On’s Bistreaux, which was recently voted as the “Best Sports Bar in North America” by ESPN, for seafood and game day fun. Commuters traveling Benton Road appreciate the drive-through at Coffee on the Red. Inside the café, group rooms are available for presentations, book clubs or business meetings. Adds Stapf-Tolisano, “For date nights, residents would likely head into the historic East Bank district in Bossier City. It has beautiful cobblestone sidewalks and a boardwalk along the river. That’s where you go for window shopping or to the movie theater or Bass Pro Shop. You can find a pub, wood-fired pizzeria and a craft brewery all in one area.”
