Nearby employers add to the swell of residents
Three miles east of downtown Shreveport, East Shreveport is growing due to two major employers. "The area borders the Barksdale Air Force Base, one of the biggest bases in the nation, so there are a lot of military personnel in the area," says Mindy Wardlaw of Pinnacle Realty Advisors, who has over 20 years of experience selling in the neighborhood. "There are also major hospitals nearby, so a good deal of nurses, physical therapists and medical personnel are heading to the area." The neighborhood, located in North Bossier, is one of the fastest-growing parishes in the area. Residential streets make up the north end, but shopping plazas in the south and well-performing schools add to the attraction of the blossoming zone.
Many locals enjoy going to the Airline center shops at East Shreveport.
The local hospital is only a short drive away from the neighborhood.

White tablecloth or laidback dining
2 Johns Steak and Seafood is a white tablecloth fine dining restaurant with mouth-watering cuts of steak and fresh catches. The location is a popular date night spot, and an in-house sommelier ensures the wine and food pairings are up to standard. Each night, patrons can enjoy live music in the dining room. For something more laidback, Kim's Seafood & Po-Boy has Cajun-inspired seafood dishes and pho with fresh beef tendon and savory traditional broth. There are plenty of options for grocery stores in the neighborhood. Kroger and Walmart Supercenter are a pair of national chains located right off Airline Drive. The road is also home to Lowe's and other nationally recognized retail outlets. Locals visit Pierre Bossier Mall for more expansive shopping, home to dozens of retail options.
The restaurant offers a variety of dishes, including crawfish and shrimp.
The local Walmart is the go to spot for fresh produce and groceries.

Ranches, ranches and ranches
A large flocking to Shreveport in the middle of the century led to an equally large housing boom, leaving behind plenty of houses from the 1950s and 1960s. In trend with the time, brick ranches, often with attached garages and simple low-pitched roofs, occupy the curving roads. Residents can enjoy a walk on sidewalks lining the winding grids of houses under mature trees of the area. A few homes that need some elbow grease can be purchased for $75,000, while remodeled large houses can reach $300,000. "It's timeless housing with reasonable prices, and it's contributing to the neighborhood's growth," Wardlaw says. Houses tend to be close together, but fenced-in yards provide a sense of privacy, and nearby parks provide additional space for those wanting more than half an acre to get outside.
The neighborhood features spacious yards and tree-lined streets.
Many homes have unique architectural styles, including ranch and contemporary designs.

Active outlets for everyone

Shed Road Community Playfield has more baseball diamonds alongside basketball and tennis courts, a short drive east. Residents can escape the summer heat under the shade of the covered playground or in the public pool. Tinsley Athletic Complex is a massive sports hub providing ample field space for soccer and lacrosse. Water lovers head to the Red River, which borders the neighborhood to the west, for boating and fishing excursions. On rainy days, Altitude Trampoline Park is where local children can get some energy out with foam pits, obstacle courses and trampoline dodgeball.
