Most residences in Columbia Point are near one of the area’s green spaces. Get some fresh air at Sharon’s Park, Deer Street Park or Savin Hill Park. Or stop by Robert E. Ryan Playground to enjoy the playground, bench seating and seasonal splash area. Enjoy a beach day without leaving the city at Savin Hill or Malibu beaches. Though not a sandy spot, Malibu Beach is ideal for picnicking, swimming or a game of volleyball. Founded in 1875, nearby Savin Hill Yacht Club includes a waterfront lounge and grill and a wraparound deck.
If you’re looking for something to do, you can catch a Beacons ice hockey match at the Edward T. Barry Ice Rink or visit the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum. The museum is open every day except Wednesday and has permanent and special exhibits on themes such as space exploration, the Cuban Missile Crisis and Kennedy children in the White House. Built in 1661, the nearby James Blake House is the oldest surviving house in Boston. The property is an example of early colonial architecture and includes a central chimney and gable roof.

The neighborhood is also home to South Bay Center, a shopping center with stores such as Marshalls, TJ Maxx and Bed Bath & Beyond, in addition to restaurants and a movie theater. While you can dine at familiar chain restaurants, you’ll also find plenty of independent eateries such as popular sports bar The Banshee or Sugar Bowl Ice Cream & Coffee, where customers enjoy the beverages as much as the atmosphere.

Getting around Columbia Point by car, train or on foot
Interstate 93 bisects the Columbia Point neighborhood making highway travel convenient. There is also ample public transportation with the JFK/UMass station nearby and several bus stops in the area. Perhaps the best way to experience Columbia Point is by taking a stroll along the Harborwalk. Though the area has become more populous over time, the neighborhood’s unobstructed and stunning view of the sea has remained the same.
Uphams Corner offers daily bus and rail connections across Dorchester.
Savin Hill Station links to JFK/UMass with frequent Red Line service.
Savin Hill commuters connect quickly via nearby JFK/UMass station.
