Spanish immersion and tutoring programs boost student success

The Northshore School District serves families in the area with school-aged children, all of whom scored above average for test scores, student progress and college readiness, according to Great Schools. The district has an A-plus on Niche. Woodin Elementary (A), located within the neighborhood, offers a Spanish Immersion program that helps students achieve fluency more easily. Leota Middle (A) supports students with an after-school homework, study time and tutoring program called STAR Time. At Woodinville High (A-plus), students can also easily access academic support. The school offers a lunchtime Math group and Falcon Quest, a before- and after-school tutoring and homework help group where students can get help with complex subjects from peers and teachers.

With the Sammamish River, Lake Washington and the Cascade Mountain Range nearby, there are various ways to relax, exercise and play outdoors. Hikers head to the Rotary Community Park, where they find a wooded walking loop, a playground, a skate park and a rock-climbing wall. To get to the river, head to Wilmot Gateway Park. There is a fishing and kayak launching area, a grassy lawn and a play area. A walking and biking trail that starts at Lake Sammamish and follows the Sammamish River also connects to the park. Within the neighborhood, there’s a small playground and basketball court on Hollyhills Drive Northeast, which offers the chance for families to relax and play closer to home.
