Presquille is a Creole worker's town in southern Louisiana
Bordered on two of its three sides by bayous, Presquille feels off the beaten path in Terrebonne Parish. The area's name originates from a Creole term that translates to "almost an island." Residents may hear commercial airplanes overhead from the Houma-Terrebonne Airport. Otherwise, the area is primarily residential, and almost every local is a homeowner. Presquille students attend highly rated schools and most adults are employed nearby. "Many Presquille buyers work in Bollinger Shipyards or the oilfield trade," says Realtor Beau Toups with Century 21 Action Realty, who sells in the metro area. "Residents are people who want to be in a Flood Zone X but still have [nearby] businesses and work down the bayou."
The Presquille landscape is primarily residential and is surrounded by lush Louisiana greenery.
Some fisherman that live in Presquille have the luxury of boat parking with easy access to Bayou Terrebonne.

Ranch style and New Traditional homes close to the bayous
Presquille houses are primarily brick ranch-styles from the late 20th century and New Traditional homes from the early 2000s. These properties are more spaced out than other communities, like nearby Houma. Each lot has a front yard, and several have driveways extending behind homes. Many residences line the bayous, and some have backyard docks on the water. Average home values in the community are higher than in the rest of the metro area. Houses tend to enter the market between $225,000 and $500,000. "It sits on a ridge, so that's one of the few spots [in the region] where you can be in a Flood Zone X," Toups says. However, properties still have a minor to moderate risk of coastal flooding and severe weather impacts. The community has a CAP Index crime score of 1 out of 10, which is significantly lower than the national average of 4.
