Presquille
Homes
Presquille houses are primarily brick ranch-styles from the late 20th century and New Traditional homes from the early 2000s. These properties are more spaced out than other communities, like nearby Houma. Each lot has a front yard, and several have driveways extending behind homes. Many residences line the bayous, and some have backyard docks on the water. Average home values in the community are higher than in the rest of the metro area. Houses tend to enter the market between $225,000 and $500,000. "It sits on a ridge, so that's one of the few spots [in the region] where you can be in a Flood Zone X," Toups says. However, properties still have a minor to moderate risk of coastal flooding and severe weather impacts. The community has a CAP Index crime score of 1 out of 10, which is significantly lower than the national average of 4.Schools
Most students are zoned for Bourg Elementary and Montegut Middle. The elementary and middle schools have A-minus grades on Niche. South Terrebonne High earns an A and the No. 1 spot for best public high school in the parish, according to Niche. The high school, located just outside the community, offers after-school programs such as 4-H, eSports and drama.Transportation
Taking to Highway 24, also known as Main Street, for 5 miles east leads commuters to nearby Bourg. "Presquille is what people consider an extension of Bourg," Toups says. Heading west for about 7 miles brings drivers to downtown Houma. Locals must travel around 15 miles to reach U.S. Highway 90, which stretches throughout the region.Parks
Lafayette Woods Park, about 3 miles away, has a paved walking path and playscapes. Bourg Recreation District, just over 5 miles east, includes playgrounds and a basketball court. In 2024, new fencing was placed around the pickleball and tennis courts. The onsite sports complex contains ballparks for youth sporting leagues.Shopping and Dining
There are few businesses inside Presquille, but locals have many nearby options. Tipsy Bayou Tavern sits just outside the community, where the Terrebonne and Petit Gaillou bayous diverge. Further up Main Street is Double Hill Bar and Grill, a relaxed hangout for enjoying Southern food and billiards. Bourg Supermarket is about 3 miles from the center of the neighborhood. Locals can find entertainment along Main Street, including Royal Flush Casino and the local roller rink, Aggie's Skate Connection. Many residents also visit Houma, around 6 miles away, for more restaurants and national retailers.
