Since Collington Station is a spacious suburb, residents need a car to access retail, dining and other nearby points of interest. Many of the neighborhood's commuters drive 7 miles west to the Downtown Largo Metro station for a 40-minute train ride into the nation's capital. Commuters can also take U.S. Route 50 21 miles west to reach downtown D.C.'s major government employers. Annapolis is 19 miles east, and Baltimore is 41 miles north. Bowie Town Center is 6 miles north of the neighborhood on Collington Road and features a Macy's, Best Buy and Safeway for groceries. Stores line both sides of Emerald Way, making a walk through the outdoor mall feel like a stroll through a small town. Six miles west is Downtown Largo, a Metro-accessible shopping corridor with shopping options like Burlington and Marshalls, as well as an AMC movie theater. It also has dozens of chain eateries, including Longhorn Steakhouse and Ledo Pizza, which serves Maryland-style rectangular pies.
