The small but established community of Idlewild is one of Bowie’s original suburbs, designed by Levitt Homes in the early 1960s. It’s a residential neighborhood with relatively affordable single-family homes that stretch for five blocks. “In Maryland, Prince George’s County is one of the more affordable areas, and Bowie is one of the more affordable cities in the county,” says Kyle McCarthy, a Realtor associate with Re/Max Leading Edge with over 40 years of experience. It’s also appealing because it's close to city green spaces like Whitemarsh Park, as well as retail in Bowie Town Center or dining options in neighboring Crofton.
