Small suburb close to Bowie's amenities
A Bowie suburb, Northridge stands out with its own lakefront park, which is within walking distance for most residents. Buyers can find a market of new millennium homes along winding cul-de-sacs within minutes of golf courses, nature preserves and Bowie Town Center, the city’s biggest shopping mall. Much of the neighborhood was constructed in the early 2000s and features larger homes than the city’s central communities. “Northridge is a nice area; it’s one of the newer communities built outside the original Levitt Homes developments in the city,” says Bill Franklin, a former Bowie local and team leader at Bill Franklin Real Estate Group with Long & Foster Real Estate.
Northridge is small and completely residential, but amenities can be found nearby in the rest of Bowie.

Newer Craftsmans and townhomes in Northridge
Northridge’s homes are from the 1980s through the 2000s, making them newer than many of the city’s original postwar builds. They're priced from $440,000 to $700,000, varying by square footage and lot size. Buyers can find a market of Colonial Revival and Craftsman-style homes, many featuring attached garages. Townhouses are not standard but are available, usually coming with three bedrooms. Several HOAs serve the community for maintenance needs and park upkeep. “[There’s] a little bit of everything, from starter homes to upsizers," Franklin says. "The market’s very active here — listings sell very quickly." Northridge's CAP Index crime score is a 2, below the national average of 4.

Locals can enjoy the pond at Northridge Park
The community revolves around Northridge Park, which has a pond and a loop trail. Though swimming, fishing and boating are not allowed, folks can take in the pond's natural beauty at one of several pavilions and catch a glimpse of the occasional turtle or beaver swimming around. The Northridge Swim & Tennis Club features an outdoor pool, a playground, tennis court and a clubhouse for private events. The club hosts the Northridge Swim Team, which allows swimmers aged 8 to 18 to compete against other local squads. Residents are also only a few miles from Patuxent Research Refuge, a large wildlife preserve spanning over 12,000 acres, with forested hiking trails and a nature center offering information on the local ecosystem. A quick drive east leads to Bowie Golf Club, the city’s premier public golf course, which also features a pro shop.
