Tulip Grove
Neighborhood in Bowie, Maryland
Prince George's County 20715
1960s homes built on top of an 18th-century estate
Virtually the entire neighborhood was developed during the 1960s. “Over in that section, you’ll have the original homes that are mostly ranches,” Malloy says. Those homes are mixed in with Colonial Revivals along curving streets. Lots were uniformly sized at a fifth of an acre, besides some larger corner lots. Trees planted when the neighborhood was developed 60 years ago have matured, and rows of tulip poplars that once led to the entrance of the Bel Air Mansion now grow in some backyards. Homes typically sell between the mid-$400,000s and the mid-$500,000s, comparable to Bowie’s median home price.East Coast Greenway, Foxhill Park highlight outdoor recreation
The East Coast Greenway spans 3,000 miles between Florida and Canada, passing through Tulip Grove along the way. The greenway provides a pedestrian and cycling route to Foxhill Park, less than a mile south of Tulip Grove. Pickleball players make frequent use of the park’s eight courts, and a historic stone bridge allows for a walk over a lily-covered pond. Next to Tulip Grove, Belair Bath and Tennis has private courts and a swimming pool for dues-paying members. Lacrosse, basketball and other leagues are hosted at the Bowie Boys & Girls Club to the south. Malloy says it’s one of the most active organizations in town. “South Bowie, with the Boys and Girls Club, has all the sports communities.”Most students go to Prince George’s County Public Schools
Children in Tulip Grove attending public schools are zoned to Tulip Grove Elementary School, Benjamin Tasker Middle School and Bowie High School. Niche gives all three B-minus ratings. Bowie High School hosts Community Day every May, filling the parking lot with inflatables, rock bands and food vendors.60 years of outreach from Christian Community Presbyterian Church

Commuters can skip the traffic by driving 4 miles to the Bowie State MARC station, parking and taking a 30-minute train ride to Washington.Dining out and grabbing groceries at businesses along Route 450
North of the neighborhood, Maryland Route 450 leads to a trio of shopping centers less than a mile from Tulip Grove. They house dozens of businesses, including department stores like T.J.
