Briarwood Manor consists of diverse homes near golf courses

Briarwood Manor is a sprawling residential area on the east side of Bowling Green, less than 5 miles from the city center. Subdivisions feature homes from as early as the 1950s and as late as the 2020s. Many homes are near several golf courses and expansive parks, as well as highly rated schools. “There’s a lot of diversity in the homes,” says Tanner Gann, a Realtor with the Hunt Real Estate Group who grew up in the area. “There are new builds, but there are also established, well-known neighborhoods on Cemetery Road, which is one of the best ways to get around Bowling Green.”

A wide variety of home styles and price points in several subdivisions

Spacious, grassy front lawns sit between homes and the residential streets they’re on, shaded by towering oaks and other mature trees. Ranch-style homes built between the 1950s and the 1980s come on generous lots — typically between a third and half of an acre in size — ranging from $260,000 to $485,000. New traditional homes and Colonial Revivals, primarily constructed in the 1980s and 1990s, are scattered throughout the neighborhood, while new constructions are clustered in the Traditions subdivision near the Bowling Green-Warren County Regional Airport. These homes range from $320,000 to $600,000, while grandiose homes with manicured lawns in the Talbott and Cherry Hills communities fetch between $700,000 and $1.2 million. Townhomes and condos with three bedrooms go from $270,000 to $370,000.

Three golf courses, two disc golf courses and other athletic amenities

Briarwood Manor has several outdoor athletic complexes. “I’m a big golfer, and we have really nice municipal golf courses for the price point and the location,” Gann says. The CrossWinds Golf Course has 18 holes and some of the largest bunkers in the state, while the Paul Walker Golf Course — located just west of the neighborhood — consists of nine holes. The membership-based 18-hole course at Indian Hills Country Club hosted the Kentucky Men’s State Amateur Championship in 2022.A bed of vibrant tulips welcomes parkgoers to Kereiakes Park. Amenities there include a disc golf course, 10 tennis courts, a soccer field, a basketball court, two baseball diamonds and a batting cage. Farther south, another disc golf course and nine more soccer fields can be found at the Lovers Lane Soccer Complex. “The Loop [trail] at Lovers Lane is really nice. It’s a little flatter, but I run, so I don’t mind it,” Gann says. “Kareiakes is much more known for the running. It’s a difficult run, but a beautiful trail with really pretty scenery.”

National Blue Ribbon School, and other state and national recognition

Local children may start their K-12 journeys at Briarwood Elementary School, which earns a B-plus from Niche. “I went to Briarwood, and it’s a great school,” Gann says. Afterward, children may move on to Drakes Creek Middle School and Greenwood High School, both scoring A-minus grades. Students at Greenwood High may choose between more than 25 athletic teams and more than 25 student organizations, including speech and debate club, art club and Future Business Leaders of America. The high school has been recognized by several institutions for its academics—the Kentucky Department of Education ranked it in the top 10% in the state, and it was recognized by the Center for Modern Schools as well. Drakes Creek Middle School was named a National Blue Ribbon School in 2023.

Greenwood Mall and a number of restaurants are on Scottsville Road

Restaurants and shopping centers line Scottsville Road on the west side of the neighborhood. Double Dogs serves casual American fare and frosty pints on its dog-friendly patio. Lunch at Montana Grille comes with a complimentary scoop of homemade ice cream; common entrees include steak filet wrapped in bacon and char-grilled chicken over vegetable Ratatouille. A large stone fireplace sits across from the restaurant’s open kitchen, and fabric-covered booths are embroidered with geometric Southwest designs. Farther south, the Greenwood Mall is anchored by Dillard’s, Belk and JCPenney, while Meijer and a Walmart Supercenter are nearby for groceries. A Kroger is also located in the north of the neighborhood.

Cemetery Road and a GOBG bus connect Briarwood Manor to downtown

Kentucky state Route 234—locally known as Cemetery Road—runs through the neighborhood, connecting it to downtown Bowling Green less than 5 miles away. It continues north to Louisville and south to Nashville. A GOBG Transit bus picks up passengers at the nearby Fairview Plaza, taking them around downtown as well. Interstate 65 runs along the eastern side of the neighborhood.
