Springhill is a central neighborhood in Bowling Green
Near the center of Bowling Green, the community of Springhill is best known for its access to education, green spaces and lower-than-average real estate prices. The rural farmlands of Kentucky are a couple of miles away, and downtown is even closer. Quiet and conveniently placed, Springhill is especially popular with college students, who can commute to classes at Southcentral Kentucky Community and Technical College in minutes.
Homes in the area come in a variety of styles
The majority of the area is made up of apartment complexes and retail establishments. However, single-family homes in Springhill come in various styles despite only making up around 15% of the residential area. Lots are generally around a quarter of an acre, and houses are placed in neatly regimented blocks. Most homes are midcentury ranch-styles with prices that range from the high $100,000s to the mid-$200,000s. Twenty-first-century traditional homes are also available, falling between the low and high $200,000s. Manufactured homes are near the center of the neighborhood, selling for anywhere from the mid-$20,000s to the low $50,000s.
Southcentral Kentucky Community and Technical College is close by
Students can begin at Warren Elementary School before heading to Henry F. Moss Middle School. Niche gives both schools a C-plus. Older students will attend B-minus-rated Warren Central High School, which is located within walking distance of many homes. Southcentral Kentucky Community and Technical College currently enrolls nearly 6,000 full- and part-time students. Some of its most popular programs are nursing, industrial mechanics and liberal arts.
The Southern Kentucky Fairgrounds hosts rodeos, fairs and more
Lampkin Park has about 80 acres of basketball courts, tennis courts, softball fields and open woodlands. It’s also the location of the Southern Kentucky Fairgrounds, which hosts events including demolition derbies, rodeos and the annual Southern Kentucky Fair. The Russell Sims Aquatic Center has a 50-meter pool with water slides, diving boards and a splash ground.
Behar Cafe has authentic Eastern European food
Behar Café offers Greek and Eastern European cuisine like gyros and sudzukice in a laid-back atmosphere. In addition to a fully stocked bar and no-frills food, 231 Bar and Grill hosts regular nightly events like karaoke, live music and whiskey tastings. The Western Gateway Shopping Center is a popular spot for retail and fast food. Groceries are available at Walmart Supercenter.
Latino culture is celebrated at the BG Fiestaval
Held twice a year in May and September, the BG Fiestaval is a free weekend of dancing, activities and Latino-inspired performances in Bowling Green. Authentic local cuisine is available and made by vendors and local enthusiasts.
Easy access to downtown and universities
The area’s main thoroughfares are U.S. Routes 68 and 231. Public transportation is available from Go Bowling Green (GoBG), with fixed routes through the city and stops on Route 231. Nashville is about 70 miles southwest. Western Kentucky University is about a mile east in Downtown Bowling Green.
