Caloosa
Several home styles, some along the lakefront
Homes in the Caloosa area can range in prices, with townhouses primarily falling anywhere in the $350,000 to $550,000 bracket. Single-family homes are clustered on the eastern side of the neighborhood, mostly across the highway, on and close to Lake Ida. Those will typically start around $900,000 and frequently sell for more than $1 million. Styles include sprawling ranch homes, Spanish revival-influenced structures with classic arches and similarly-designed townhouses with Spanish eclectic red-tile roofs. Many of the waterfront homes have private docks into the lake’s waters; residences inland may not have that accessibility, but there are publicly available boat launches at Lake Ida West Park that allow those bound for the water the option to put in for boating, kayaking or jet-skiing.A three-school pipeline for local students
Grade-school enrollment can begin at Crosspointe Elementary School, located just north of Caloosa and serving pre-kindergarten through fifth grade. Crosspointe receives a B-minus from Niche, while Carver Middle School is its successor after graduation for grades six through eight, rating at a C-plus with Niche. Atlantic High School completes the curricular curve with ninth through 12th grades, listed as the 15th-best such educational institution in Palm Beach County. Scoring a B-plus with Niche, it also ranks highly within the state of Florida in opportunities afforded to student-athletes as well as college preparation.Myriad amenities at Caloosa Park
Caloosa Park, located in the center of the neighborhood, has an oblong shape that allows it to incorporate a bevy of amenities for its visitors while still finding a place between the paralleling highway and residential areas. Among the facilities found at Caloosa Park are fields for baseball and softball; courts for handball, pickleball, tennis and basketball; several playgrounds for different age groups; a roller hockey rink; and various paths and open areas alongside a lake offering fresh-water angling. Barrier Free Park is just to the west of Caloosa, featuring multiple play areas, a splash pad, a playground with a Florida swamp theme and more. "It's a very active community," Faizi says. "Carriage Pointe is lit at night, so people can jog around then. It's super secure."Nearby restaurants and grocery perusing
Kimura Japanese Steak House is a local favorite to the north, offering Japanese fare along with seafood and a hibachi bar. Patrons can even have their meals prepared beside their table. The Carolina Ale House is one of the bigger chains located near the Caloosa area, its sports bar a popular feature along with its expansive menu and beers on tap. For general grocery needs, residents can head to the local Publix or Aldi, as well as the area Walmart Neighborhood Market. Other errands can be done via a quick trip up South Congress Avenue. Grocery outlets, supermarkets, pharmacies and restaurants are located along the thoroughfare.A mall up the road with local storefronts
Just about 10 minutes up South Congress Avenue, Caloosa residents can hit the Boynton Beach Mall for a number of outlets, both for shopping and dining. Restaurants situated within the mall include chains like Popeye’s and Taco Bell, while local establishments like Yaadman Kitchen Jamaican Restaurant, Mama Bella Bakery & Restaurant and Annie’s Cookie Factory and Pastry Shop. "Even though we're in Boynton Beach, we are so close to Downtown Delray where all the shops, wining and dining are," Faizi says. "It's ideal for anyone who needs to commute north or south, and it isn't far from the turnpike, either. So, if someone wants to head out west, that's easy, too."I-95 connecting Caloosa up the East Coast
Interstate 95 runs through the eastern portion of Caloosa. Carving its way along the eastern fringes of Florida, it also connects with Fort Lauderdale, Jacksonville and Daytona Beach before it reaches the state line into Georgia. Sports fans can head to a Jaguars game or even the Daytona 500 via the highway. On a larger scale, for road-trippers, I-95 as a whole runs for nearly 2,000 miles into Maine and connects Floridians with 14 other states along with the nation’s capital. The highway provides easy access via the nearby Woolbright Road and Atlantic Avenue exits. "I do so much real estate here because I love it so much," Faizi states. "I believe it’s a hidden gem. It's a great community that's close to everything.”
