Suburban Neighborhood in Boynton Beach, Florida
Palm Beach County 33435
Just 2 miles west of the Atlantic oceanfront in nearly the exact center of South Florida’s Boynton Beach, this neighborhood is very aptly named. And it's Heart of Boynton’s location that makes it so popular. Realtor Cathy Casella, with Brown Harris Stevens of Palm Beach, says: “Its proximity to Interstate 95 makes it super convenient, as does the shopping along North Congress. It’s a central location in Palm Beach County; it’s close to the beach and on top of all that it has no HOA, which can be appealing.” She adds that prices here are also a large part of the neighborhood’s appeal, noting that they tend to hover below the median for the wider county. Jairo Gonzalez, a rental property manager with Casa Miami Realty who handles several properties in the neighborhood, agrees. “Heart of Boynton is very appealing to investors, especially those looking for renters, but also those looking to flip properties. The homes here are priced competitively compared to the surrounding communities.”
You’ll find everything from Spanish-inspired ranch-style duplexes and single-family homes to pastel stucco-clad condos with arcade-style walkways and boxy two-story apartment buildings here. Palm trees tower over the low-profile homes, many of which are surrounded by low chain-link fencing and narrow, but lush lawns. Prices in Heart of Boynton start at around $280,000 and climb to $650,000, a spectrum that on the low end falls below the median for Boynton Beach and on the high end soars above. “It’s possible to find a gem of a deal here, whether you’re a first-time homebuyer or a veteran investor,” says Gonzalez.
Students here attend schools in the Palm Beach County Public Schools system. Many go to Galaxy Elementary between preschool and fifth grade, Congress Middle between sixth and eighth grade and Boynton Beach High for Grades 9 through 12. Congress Middle and Boynton Beach High both earned C grades from Niche in 2023. Galaxy Elementary earned a C-plus from Niche that same year, along with a 6/10 GreatSchools Summary Rating. Teens at Boynton Beach High have the opportunity to participate in a variety of Choice programs, including Aerospace Science. Students in the Boynton Aerospace Science Academy can earn both high school and college course credits in the magnet program through a partnership with Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
For everything from everyday essentials to retail therapy, Heart of Boynton residents can head just over 2 miles west to the corner of North Congress Avenue and Boynton Beach Boulevard. That’s where you’ll find the Boynton Beach Mall, anchored by Macy’s and Dick’s Sporting Goods on its south end and Cinemark Theater on its north end. Across Old Boynton Road from Dick’s, you’ll find your local Walmart Supercenter. Head farther south down Congress and you’ll find the Publix at Boynton Plaza. And your local Target is nearby, too, less than a mile north of Publix. But you can pick up groceries even closer to home at Azaka Market, a discount supermarket within a mile of the neighborhood, or Captain Frank’s Seafood Market, just half a mile away.
Unwind from errands (and avoid dinner dishes) by grabbing a bite of authentic Caribbean cuisine at Tropical Island Restaurant, off Boynton Beach Boulevard less than a mile south. More in the mood for American-style Southern comfort food? Visit Bud’s Chicken & Seafood, just a few blocks east, for a savory fried seafood platter instead.
Residents don’t need to venture far from their front stoops to enjoy the great outdoors, either. Sara Sims Park sprawls over more than 8 acres of the neighborhood’s eastern side, offering everything from a classic playground to picnic areas and an open-air stage. The park recently received more than $1 million worth of improvements, including new site lighting and landscaping as well as new walkways and fitness paths, according to Boynton Beach Insider.
“The name of the neighborhood really says it all. You’re in the heart of the city here and you can’t get much better in terms of convenience,” says Casella.
