Peaceful living west of downtown Boynton Beach
While predominately residential, Old Boynton is home to the Boynton Beach Mall and is skirted by convenient franchises and local eateries. Convenience is at the heart of this neighborhood, thanks to its location just west of I-95 and Downtown Boynton Beach. "We're in the suburbs, but the beach is just 7 or 8 minutes away," says Jason Elbertson, Realtor with Coldwell Banker Realty, who has lived in Old Boynton's Stonehaven community for over seven years. "I grew up down in Broward County, and there's less congestion here and it's quieter. People are moving here because of some new development—they're building newer homes and shopping plazas."
Vibrant gated communities and turn-of-the-century condos
Old Boynton comprises gated and open condominiums, townhouse complexes, and single-family subdivisions. Subdivisions lined with single-family homes were constructed in the mid-1980s, while most condo communities were built at the turn of the century. The parallel, palm-lined streets skirting Boynton Beach Mall are homeowners association-free, with ranch-style homes ranging from $275,000 to $490,000.
Heading south on Congress Avenue leads locals past 55+ communities like Oakwood Lakes, where two-bed, 2-bath villas range from $285,000 to $350,000. Waterfront gated enclaves comprise the southern strip; homeowners owners enjoy private community pools and clubhouses. Condos and townhomes range from $275,000 to $440,000, while ranches and bungalows reach up to $700,000. Whether they explore gated or non-gated options, interested homeowners choose from colorfully consistent architectural styles like Minimal Traditional, Spanish Eclectic, Mediterranean Revival, and the occasional midcentury modern remodel.

Boynton’s tranquil beach, green spaces and fishing holes
Locals can skip the crowds at Delray Beach and head to Ocean Front Beach Park for a day on the water. "There are also a lot of parks nearby," Elbertson states. "Our kids do baseball at the Little League Park, right off Woolbright and I-95. There's another field behind Galaxy Elementary School." Officer Joseph Crowder Park and Dog Park is optimal for families and their four-legged friends. This hub has two dog runs for large and small pups, and a relaxing walkway loops around the lake. According to Elbertson, many canals encircle Old Boynton that people go fishing and boating in, such as the C. Stanley Weaver Canal, which folks can access directly via the public boat ramp at Pioneer Canal Park.

Heading to Delray for events
Locals can spend an entire evening on Atlantic Avenue's art-lined streets, whether they're heading to karaoke at Atlantic Avenue Yacht Club or getting crafty at the annual Downtown Delray Beach Craft Festival. "We're not far from Palm Beach's attractions either, like the Palm Beach Zoo or the Rapids Waterpark," Elbertson says.
The home of Boynton Beach Mall
Old Boynton residents neighbor Boynton Beach Mall, which, along with its surrounding retail complexes, serves as a shopping and dining destination for locals from all over the city. Grocery stores like Target and Publix line Congress Avenue and make for a convenient errand run. When grabbing a quick lunch or sitting down for dinner with friends and family, residents have their druthers—they can enjoy steak fajitas for dinner while listening to a live mariachi band at Casa Linda one night, then dig into some sushi at YAMI Korean BBQ Sushi & Bar over the weekend.
