Active lifestyle in the gated, 55-plus community of Palm Isles

Single-family homes, villas and condos with Mediterranean desi

“I like that we have different types of homes. There’s a nice mix of residential properties,” says Debbie Smith of Reliant Realty ERA Powered, a resident and primary Realtor for the community. Palm Isles offers a collection of single-family homes, villas and condos. Properties feature elements of Mediterranean Revival design such as decorative facades and barrel-tile roofs and are built close together on walkable streets. Many offer waterfront views. Well-manicured front lawns and palm trees add curb appeal. Prices typically range from the mid-$200,000s to the high $400,000s.

Significant HOA fees among additional costs to be aware of

Monthly HOA fees are in the high $500s for single-family homes, and they typically range from the low $800s to the low $900s for condos and attached villas. Residents can pay monthly, but most pay every three months. “You get a lot for you quarterly fees,” says Smith, who highlights cable, high-speed internet and the security system as multi-family perks, in addition to the recreational amenities. Fees cover landscaping for single-family homeowners.
Insurance costs for single-family homes can be impacted by a high risk of wind damage during hurricane season. Exterior building insurance is often included with the purchase of multi-family housing, while interior insurance is the owner’s responsibility. Recent renovations were the result of HOA-approved special assessment fees, which were either added to monthly bills or paid in a lump sum.

A community that is serious about its amenities

“This is the first 55-plus community I’ve lived in,” Smith says. “I picked it because it’s a great location, but, on top of that, they have a completely renovated clubhouse. They have an indoor pool, which is a huge plus. That was a big attraction. They have an active social calendar, which is really appealing to someone who lives here all year. … We have a pottery room with two kilns. They do art classes and card games, and there are pool tables.” The clubhouse also has a fitness center, and Smith says a tennis pro teaches tennis and pickleball on nearby athletic courts.
Within 4 miles on either side of the community are a pair of regional destinations. West Boynton Park and Recreation Center is nearly 50 acres filled with amenities. Members of the Indian Spring Country Club can play golf on two 18-hole courts and tennis on more than two dozen courts. Boaters and beachgoers can find plenty to do along the Atlantic oceanfront about 8 miles away.

Shopping and dining close by on Boynton Beach Boulevard

The clubhouse café is a convenient dining option. “It’s open seven days a week for breakfast and lunch, and you can take food home, which is nice,” Smith says. An array of commercial options are close by. “I had lived all over Palm Beach County, but hadn’t lived in Boynton Beach before, and I didn’t realize how extremely convenient it is, especially living on Boynton Beach Boulevard,” Smith says. Convenient stops along the commercial corridor include:

  • Turning Point, a popular spot known for breakfast
  • Flakowitz, which serves up New York-style deli food
  • Lucille’s, a destination for hearty barbecue staples
  • Duffy’s, which provides a casual sports bar setting
Whole Foods is just outside the community, and Publix anchors a nearby shopping center.

Multiple medical facilities within 10 minutes

Buses run regularly along Boynton Beach Boulevard, and the community is near several medical centers. Baptist Health City, HCA Florida Boynton Beach Emergency, and Baptist Health Bethesda Hospital West are all within 10 minutes. Residents have access to major highways for longer trips. “The Florida Turnpike is right here to the west, and to the east is Interstate 95,” Smith says. Interstate 95 connects to larger cities along the coast. Palm Beach International Airport is within 20 miles via I-95.
