Established in 2013, Valencia Cove is one of the newer 55-plus planned communities in Boynton Beach built by GL Homes. Drawing a mix of snowbirds and primary residents, it’s become a respite from cold northeastern winters, yard work and, for some, loneliness. At the neighborhood’s sprawling clubhouse, neighbors join each other on the pickleball courts, comedy shows or one of the community's many clubs and organizations. “It’s nice. Everything is taken care of for you,” says Birgit DeSotle, a real estate agent with Coldwell Banker who lives in Palm Beach County and sells throughout the area. “It’s easy living.”
Custom Mediterranean style homes on manicured lawns
Homes in Valencia Cove are contemporary Mediterranean style, with three or four bedrooms, large front windows and driveways leading to two-car garages. They sit close together on narrow lots with manicured lawns maintained by community’s HOA fees. Backyards sometimes include pools, patios, or both. The neighborhood has several water features, giving many residents a backyard water view. The streets are lined with sidewalks, which DeSotle says are often busy. “Walking is huge here, whether it’s for exercise or socializing with neighbors.” Home prices range from around $725,000 to $1.6 million, with higher-priced homes featuring upgrades like high-end appliances in gourmet kitchens and hurricane screens on patios. Boynton Beach is vulnerable to hurricanes due to its location near the coast. As for crime, security guards the community 24 hours a day at the front gate, and the community rates a 1 out of 10 on the CAP Index score, which is three points lower than the national average.
