Babcock provides proximity to abundant parks and shopping areas
Near the western end of Bozeman, Babcock is a walkable suburban neighborhood close to shopping malls, highly rated schools and nature trails. "The outdoor lifestyle is why most people come to Bozeman, whether it's for hiking or skiing," says Tamara Williams, a real estate broker and owner at Tamara Williams & Company, who has sold homes in the city since 2007. "The city is designed around our walking trails. In Babcock, you are close to commercial businesses, grocery stores and the bus line."
Tree-lined streets with sidewalks and views of the Gallatin Range
Babcock's subdivisions feature sidewalks, trails and bike lanes shaded by ponderosa pines and aspen trees, and most homes have views of the Gallatin Range. There are a variety of options in the neighborhood, and many houses have New Traditional or Craftsman accents. "Babcock is a hodgepodge of different subdivisions that complement each other," Williams says. "It's more affordable because it's an established area with older housing for that side of town. Although it also has pockets of new construction." Home prices range from $550,000 to $1.1 million. Homes with over 4,000 square feet make up the higher end of the range. Townhouses cost between $440,000 and $650,000. Condos go for $300,000 to $850,000, depending on the year of construction and whether they are in HOA communities like Fireside Lofts. " Potential homeowners may not be aware that Bozeman is in a mountain valley. This results in vehicle pollutants and smoke that can build up occasionally, causing poor air quality, particularly during winter.
Gallatin Crossing mall amenities are minutes from Babcock
This neighborhood is directly north of the Gallatin Valley Mall, which has a Regal movie theater, a Macy's and a Barnes & Noble. Local grocery stores include a Whole Foods Market and Rosauers Food & Rx, which are in the same general area. Cafe Zydeco serves Cajun comfort food in a dining space reminiscent of a New Orleans saloon. The Oba Oriental Cafe serves acai bowls and sushi burritos. There are also familiar chains like Texas Roadhouse and Qdoba nearby. Bozeman's Main Street center is about 2 miles east.
Local parks have dog parks and hiking trails with mountain views
Walking trails connect this neighborhood's green spaces. Bozeman Pond Park offers a fishing pond and a climbing boulder. It's well known for its pet-friendly facilities, including an off-leash area and a doggy swim beach. The Gallatin County Regional Park, just a couple miles north, provides a similar layout with a 3.5-mile trail around two swimming lakes surrounded by mountain views. Also nearby, Dinosaur Park has an interactive dinosaur-themed playground, and Kirk Park offers athletic fields and courts. About 20 miles north, the Bridger Bowl Ski Area is a nonprofit recreation area for local skiers.
Public schools earn A grades with career-focused classes
Hyalite Elementary School earns an A-minus grade from Niche and participates in the Child Advancement Project, which provides community mentors who volunteer to help students. Sacajawea Middle School offers after-school activities like the LEGO Robotics and Science Olympiad clubs. Bozeman High School delivers an advanced career pathways curriculum in subjects like welding, medical science and business technology. Both Sacajawea Middle and Bozeman High receive an A. About a mile away from Babcock, Montana State University is a four-year institution that enrolls about 17,000 students.
Streamline Bus transit and an airport within reach
Bozeman offers public transportation through the Streamline Bus, a zero-fare system with stops along Durston Road, Hunters Way and Babcock Street. This area also has quick access to U.S. Route 191, a major highway connecting to Interstate 90 and other communities. Approximately 10 miles north, the Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport provides direct passenger flights to cities across the country, including Atlanta, Chicago and Dallas.
Bozeman rodeos and folk music festivals
Bozeman hosts several well-attended annual events in August. The Sweet Pea Festival attracts more than 15,000 people for its annual art vendor fair and live folk music. The Bozeman Stampede has bucking bronco and wrangling competitions. In mid-July, the Big Sky Country Fair has carnival rides, a livestock area and more live music.
