Active and quiet lifestyles combine in Table Rock
Table Rock is a tourist-heavy, yet quiet area with Lake Taneycomo to the south and Table Rock Lake on its western edge. Moonshine Beach, Branson’s only public sand shoreline, is just a quick golf cart ride away. There’s also a boat ramp, making it easy for boaters to cruise past some of the city’s most notable landmarks. Locals can book a tee time at The Pointe, a public 18-hole golf course, resort and neighborhood on Table Rock’s southern end. This water recreation and golf course access are supplemented by hotels and RV campgrounds around the area. “You’re in the thick of vacation land here,” says Jim Stephenson, the broker-owner of Branson House Realty, who has lived in town since 1997. But with a location 4 miles south of Branson’s more crowded entertainment district, Table Rock also has a lot of owner-occupied residences. “There are a bunch of vacationers during the summer, which is the case for most of Branson,” Stephenson says. “But you’ll also find streets that are quieter and more suburban, and that’s why the area still has a good amount of homeowners.”
Table Rock has condos, apartments and single-family homes
A mix of multi-family and single-family homes make up Table Rock. Mid-rise condo complexes and apartment buildings dot the area’s hilly terrain. Common single-family home styles include New Traditionals and ranch styles, often sitting on oak tree-shaded lots with a median size of about a quarter-acre. Some properties offer lake views, while others back up to The Pointe’s 18-hole golf course. One-bedroom condos can start at $100,000, and three-bedroom units may reach around $415,000. Single-family homes typically cost between $160,000 and $675,000, depending on the house’s age, size and condition. Properties closest to the water may be at risk of flooding.
Golfing, swimming and boating define life in Table Rock
The Pointe’s 18-hole golf course stretches across rolling terrain alongside Lake Taneycomo. Though the course is part of a gated resort and neighborhood, public tee times are still available. “You’ve got to snatch up one of those times as fast as you can,” Stephenson says. “People come to Branson for the golfing just as much as they do the lake.” For water access, Moonshine Beach on Table Rock Lake is a public beach with a boat ramp. During the summer months, locals and vacationers bring beach chairs, umbrellas and towels to relax on the shoreline, which gets around 5 million visitors annually. Boaters can head south, passing the concrete Table Rock Dam and the dock for the Branson Belle, a 700-person showboat. They can dock at the Table Rock State Park Marina, which has gas pumps, a restaurant and slips available to lease. Campgrounds and waterfront hiking trails are also at the state park, about 5 miles south by car.
Table Rock is zoned for Branson Public Schools
Branson Public Schools serves Table Rock. Kids can go to prekindergarten and kindergarten at Cedar Ridge Primary, which Niche grades a B-plus, and first through third grade at Cedar Ridge Elementary, which gets an A-minus. They may continue to Cedar Ridge Intermediate, Branson Junior High and Branson High, all of which earn B-pluses. The high school offers career pathways in health services, engineering and agriculture.
Local restaurants are in the community, and big-box stores are nearby
Table Rock is home to a few convenience stores and restaurants. Neon beer signage decorates Star, a barbecue joint with regular live music and karaoke nights. Next door, a small bungalow houses Maria Bonita, known for its freshly made margaritas and chimichangas. Grocery stores like Country Mart and Harter House are about 10 miles east. Branson Landing, approximately 7 miles east, is an outdoor shopping center anchored by Bass Pro Shops and Belk. Cox Medical Center is also near the shopping center.
Table Rock is car-dependent and golf cart-friendly
Cars and golf carts share the road in Table Rock. “People take golf carts everywhere here, even if they don’t live on a golf course,” Stephenson says. “That’s how we get to restaurants and the beach.” State Route 165 on Table Rock’s north side is a loop around west Branson. A less than 4-mile drive north on the highway brings drivers to The Strip, Branson’s entertainment district with museums, theatres and amusement parks. Branson Airport, less than 17 miles southeast, offers flights through Sun Country, while Springfield-Branson National Airport, about 58 miles north, is served by more airlines.
