Water sports and forested trails along Ostrich Bay
Erlands Point’s waterfront properties have direct access to Dyes Inlet for paddleboarding and kayaking from private docks. Farther south, Kitsap Lake Park’s public dock and boat launch provide access to the lake for watersports, such as water skiing. Throughout the year, the water is stocked with rainbow trout and, between spring and summer, largemouth bass and bluegill sunfish. “There are tons of parks in the nearby Jackson Park community, which is all Navy housing and not gated, so everyone can access them. There’s one on the water with tennis courts, bike trails and swings,” Sargeant says. N.A.D. Park hugs both sides of Highway 3, covering a combined 75 acres. On the east side of the highway, less than a mile of forested trail traces the Ostrich Bay shoreline. The west side contains a disc golf course spanning over 20 acres, over a mile of trail and a decommissioned fighter jet, honoring the area’s military history.
