Minimal traditional blended with new traditional housing
Minimal traditional homes were built between the 1930s and the 1940s. These single-family homes start at $340,000 and go to $400,000. Raised ranch-style homes from the 1980s and 1990s are priced between $430,000 and $480,000. New traditional homes were built after 2000 and through the 2020s, listing between $480,000 and $630,000. These newer homes have Craftsman influences, including dormer windows and front stoops with square columns.Sports at Pendergast and cruising along Kitsap Lake
Pendergast Regional Park’s 50 acres include fields for softball and soccer, a playground and a basketball court. Bremerton Dog Park and Bremerton Sports Center’s indoor turf soccer field are also located in the park. “Pendergast is very well used. Every time I’ve driven through, I’ve seen the parking lots are full because of weekend soccer tournaments or tee ball,” Bear says. Kitsap Lake Park has a boat launch which is also used as a fishing pier as boats glide by.Schools and student sports in Pixie Park
Pixie Park is part of the Bremerton School District, which includes West Hills STEM Academy and Mountain View Middle School. Both schools receive C grades from Niche. Bremerton High School maintains a B-minus and allows students to try out for sports such as football and cheerleading.Scavenger hunts based on bugs and reptiles
The Bug & Reptile Museum’s exhibits are free to explore and teach about lifecycles and ecosystems with accompanying scavenger hunts. “We want to change children’s outlook on bugs and reptiles and just by educating them will sometimes do that,” says Randi Jones, the business’s owner. The museum is entirely run on donations and offers appointments for local schools and scouting troops. “All our animals have a name because that’s what kids want to know the most. Elvis is the king; he’s a type of milk snake and one of the most touched critters.”Boulevard bus stops and Highway 3 travels
Roosevelt Boulevard loops around the neighborhood and is lined with Kitsap Transit bus stops. Washington state Route 3 – or Highway 3 – is a county-wide thoroughfare that runs through the neighborhood’s eastern side. The neighborhood’s portion of Highway 3 marks the beginning of an industrial and auto corridor that ends in Gorst, about 5 miles south. The Bremerton Wastewater Treatment facility is located here too and allows recreational vehicles to dump tanks at no cost. Exhaust from the facility does not travel far since wind is minimal, but occasionally odors may waft. Downtown Bremerton and the shipyard are around a 4-mile drive east when taking Highway 3 to Charleston Boulevard. Ferries depart for Port Orchard, Annapolis and Seattle from downtown. Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) – or SeaTac- is over 50 miles east if driving south to Interstate 5 or nearly a 30-mile drive with a ferry ride.Car shops, hobby stores and Crazy Eric’s Drive-In
Since no true designated retail area exists in the neighborhood, residents can drive to Downtown Bremerton, where local shops include hobby and novelty stores such as Location Skateshop and Big Foot’s House of Vinyl and More. In Navy Yard City, adjacent to Pixie Park, Crazy Eric’s Drive-In serves casual American food from a walkup window. Additional dining options are dispersed along Kitsap Way, including Tiny’s House of Crabs and Tony's Italian Restaurant & Pizzeria, which both sit across from WinCo Foods.
