Homes lined up beside Island Lake
Townhouses and single-family homes, lined along circle streets and cul-de-sacs, were built between the 1980s and 1990s. Single-family homes such as split-levels and new traditionals with dormers and bay windows are priced between $335,000 and $630,000. Properties closer to the lake go for $500,000 to $730,000. The community’s townhouses are listed between $340,000 and $400,000.Canoeing, kayaking and hiking Clear Creek Trail
Island Lake County Park spans over 23 acres and has over a mile of paved and forested trails. The park’s beach has benches overlooking the water, where canoes and kayaks glide by and fishing lines are cast from piers. “The big thing is to swim to the island in the middle of the lake; that island is how the lake got its name,” says Pat Patton, a Windermere Real Estate broker with eight years of experience. Adjacent to the park’s log cabin that is rented out for events, there are picnic tables and a playground. Silverdale Rotary Gateway Park sits adjacent to Clear Creek, where over 7 miles of trail—known as the Clear Creek Trail—weave through the wilderness. The park also includes a fenced dog park and skate park with cement bowls and short ramps.North Kitsap schools and pathway courses
The Summit is zoned for the North Kitsap School District, where Hilder Pearson Elementary School and Poulsbo Middle School both receive B grades from Niche. North Kitsap High School maintains a B-plus and offers education pathways, such as an Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) path for students seeking military careers after graduation.Travels to Silverdale, SeaTac and nearby employers
Silverdale Way NW and Ridgetop Boulevard NW are lined with Kitsap Transit bus stops and connect the community with Silverdale and the St. Michael Medical Center, about 4 miles away. Washington state Route 3 and Washington state Route 303 – or highways 3 and 303 – are county-wide thoroughfares that tie the community to military employers around the Puget Sound area. The Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, locally known as “SeaTac,” is roughly a 65-mile drive or a 43-mile drive when taking a ferry from Southworth, about 26 miles south.Silverdale shopping centers and restaurant chains
Although the neighborhood does not have a designated area for retail and restaurants, its proximity to Silverdale presents options. “Silverdale is nicknamed ‘Consumerdale’ because everything you’d want is there, like the Costco, REI, Sprouts Farmers Market and regular grocery stores like Trader Joe’s,” says Ida Bear, a broker with Windermere Real Estate West Sound Inc., who started in real estate in 1985. “There are also two regional malls, Kitsap Mall, an old-fashioned 1980s mall, and The Trails at Silverdale.” In addition to fast food and national dining chains, such as Red Robin, there are local restaurants, such as Unko’s Kitchen, which specializes in Hawaiian cuisine. Maynard’s Restaurant serves craft cocktails and casual American food with a view of Dyes Inlet.
