A community with amenities 18 miles from Fort Worth

Splashes in the pool, neighborhood events and well-regarded schools make Lakewood a fast-growing exurb of Fort Worth, just 18 miles west of the city. The spotlight in this rural setting is on Morningstar, a meticulously planned community offering a resort-style living experience within reasonable proximity to the Metroplex. Lakewood's charm lies in its new traditional homes, featuring two community pools, a clubhouse, and a playground—all within a short stroll. With well-regarded schools, annual events and convenient access to shopping and dining, Lakewood is increasingly becoming a favored choice for residents. "It's really the location," says Elsa Usrey, a Sales Assistant with Impression Homes, a builder in the area. "Along with the great amenities and its sleek look, it's a popular spot to be right now."

Morningstar has been developed over the past decade and defines the community with communal facilities and a calendar full of community events. The community is looked after by an active HOA, promoting quality of life for restidents. Builders like Impression Homes, Riverside Homebuilders, and Highland Homes contribute to the development, offering spacious new-traditional homes with attached garages. Make a splash at the neighborhood pool

Residents are just a short walk or bike ride away from Morningstar Park, which offers a shady playground right next to the community clubhouse. Designed with a resort-style lifestyle in mind, the clubhouse is next to a big lake used for fishing and offers a splash pad and two circular community pools surrounded by pergolas. Along with a basketball court and soccer field, Morningstar has added a sand volleyball court and a dog park to the long list of amenities. There are also 3.5 miles of hiking and biking trails to explore. Outside the neighborhood, the Squaw Creek Golf Course is on Ranch House Road, and Hidden Lake Stables is 4 miles north for horse riding lessons. For more fun, Lake Weatherford is 8 miles west, where Texans enjoy fishing, trails and exploring the waterways.

Small town dining in Aledo

Although Lakewood is secluded from shopping, as it is primarily residential, Weatherford Ridge is a shopping center with many big box stores just 14 miles west of the neighborhood. Brookshire's is about 4 miles south when needing to stock up on groceries. In that same sphere, locals grab bites at nearby chain restaurants and local spots. Aledo is 5 miles south, coming alive with casual bites like Aledo Diner, plating up comfort breakfast and lunch staples. Next door, Dayne's Craft Barbecue was named among The Top 50 Best BBQ Joints in TexasMonthly in 2021, smoking up brisket, ribs and pork belly. Though Nely's Taqueria is in a gas station, its authentic street tacos and tortas are well-loved for a quick bite.
