Campello
Suburban Neighborhood in Brockton, Massachusetts
Plymouth County 02301, 02302
Campanelli ranches and classic Massachusetts architecture
The Campello community offers a variety of housing options, with a large part of the neighborhood and Brockton as a whole populated with ranch-style homes, commonly known as Campanelli ranches. These homes, built just after World War II, are on large flat surfaces with trusses and no basement, making renovations easier than with other styles. The rest of the area is made up of condos, Cape Cods and split-level homes. These residences were constructed in the early to mid-20th century and often sit on smaller lots. Home prices commonly range from around $250,000 and rise to $725,000. “The community has a much nicer price point compared to a lot of neighboring communities,” LaCivita says, “Brockton is probably one of the cheaper cities in the area.”Brockton playgrounds and local golf courses
Campello residents are just a short trip away from several parks. Just outside the community, Buckley Playground and the James Edgar Playground offer playsets and sports fields. Many residents use the parks' basketball courts. For golfers, the Brockton Country Club resides in the neighborhood's southwest corner. Residents also have access to the FunZ Trampoline Park on the southern end of Main Street.Public Brockton schools
Brockton Public Schools serves the neighborhood’s students. Davis K-8 School has a C-minus rating from Niche, and Brockton High School scores a B-minus. The school works hard to support creative fields, with a television studio and multiple art workshops. The nearby Brockton Therapeutic Day School and Promise High School provide alternative options offered by the district.
Buses, commuter rails, and expressways close to Main Street
Main Street is the primary road for Campello residents, offering transportation routes as well as shopping and dining options. Commuters can rely on State Route 24, also known as the Fall River Expressway, to get to Boston 25 miles to the north. The Campello Massachusetts Bay Transit Authority commuter rail station sits at the neighborhood's northern end, with many Brockton Area Transit bus stops connecting it to the more residential parts of the community. There are also sidewalks on almost every street for exercise or walking downtown. “The combination of public transit options makes getting around town pretty easy,” LaCivita says. The Good Samaritan Medical Center is 6 miles to the north and Boston Logan International Airport is 30 miles north in the heart of Boston.Local restaurant chains and the Brockton Farmer’s Market
There are shopping and dining options along Main Street, but residents often head to nearby Brockton for a night out. One option just north of the downtown area is Tommy Doyle’s, an Irish pub with multiple locations around the city that LaCivita says offers pub fare like burgers, pizza and fried chicken sandwiches. Casa Vallarta is a local Mexican chain in Massachusetts known for its fresh seafood and refreshing margaritas. “If I were to recommend any place in the area, it’d definitely be there,” LaCivita says. Cape Cod Café Pizza is closest to the neighborhood and has served pizza in Brockton since 1939. Residents can head to the local America's Food Basket or nearby Vicente's Supermarket for daily necessities. For fresh produce, the Brockton Farmer’s Market is set up right next to city hall every Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
