A growing community in Broken Arrow

The Haikey Creek neighborhood combines the old and historical roots of the community with a new and upcoming future. “The area is being developed more and more,” says real estate agent Kristi Reed with Chinowth & Cohen, with over 10 years of experience in the Broken Arrow area. “You have a lot of newer homes, restaurants and other amenities that are being added.”

A healthy mix of older and newer comes in Haikey Creek

Homes in the area will range from $250,000 to a couple of million, with many different sizes and architectural styles. Residents will see contemporary, multi-level and ranch-style homes on the same trip. “You have a nice mixture of older homes and communities that have been here for decades and the newer homes and people coming in,” Reed says.

Football state champions at Bixby High School

Students start school at Aspen Creek Elementary, which receives a B grade from Niche, where students go on field trips, like to the pumpkin patch. The next stop on their educational journeys is Oliver Middle School. This B-plus institution offers various student programs, such as the National Honor Society (NHS), Student Council and Students Against Destructive Decisions. Teenage students will attend Bixby High School, which receives an A and offers various athletics for students to participate in, including football, basketball and cheerleading. The school’s football team has won the state championship for the last six years.

Haikey Creek Park is the neighborhood's namesake

Haikey Creek is known for its outdoor and recreational opportunities, including the park that the neighborhood is named after. Haikey Creek Park is the only park in the county where you can simultaneously stand in two places — Bixby to the west and Broken Arrow to the east. The park features a variety of amenities that make it a significant attraction for visitors and residents. “The park is very nice and keeps getting built up,” Reed says. “They have a Frisbee golf course, volleyball courts, a picnic area and lots of green space. It really promotes an active lifestyle.” The active lifestyle isn’t just limited to Haikey Creek Park but is also evident with Indian Springs Sports Complex in the southeast part of the area. Locals will find over a dozen soccer fields, baseball diamonds and other sports fields for little league games and tournaments. Looking to get a few holes of golf in? Swing by The Club at Indian Springs or Lit’l Links Golf Club and spend some time on the green.

Chinese and Italian cuisine by Haikey Creek

Locals head over to Kuai Zi for Chinese food favorites like orange chicken and rice. Across the street is Russos Italian, which serves Italian favorites like pasta and pizza and is known for its atmosphere. Stop by Daylight Donuts South BA to satisfy the sweet tooth with donuts and other baked goods. Locals can stop at ALDI to pick up their meats, produce, and pantry stuffers. Sprout’s Farmers Market allows people to get their grocery needs and choose between organic, gluten-free, plant-based and keto options. There is a Walmart Supercenter in the north part of the neighborhood to pick up other household necessities and goods.

Accessible to downtown Tulsa and Broken Arrow

There aren’t many public transportation options, so locals rely primarily on their cars to get around. The heart of the Haikey Creek neighborhood is about 17 miles from downtown Tulsa, with easy access to the highways and interstate. Downtown Broken Arrow is even closer, just under 8 miles away. “Honestly, you can get just about anywhere in the neighborhood and nearby areas in 10-15 minutes,” Reed says. Saint Francis Hospital South is about 3 miles from Haikey Creek. Tulsa International Airport is the nearest airport, located 16.5 miles away.
