There aren’t many people on the street because once they’re home, they’re home.” Rosa emphasizes that the peacefulness, paired with access to schools and transportation, makes Laconia an appealing neighborhood for families, and for anyone looking for a little more breathing room in New York City.

Local shops and restaurants outline the neighborhood. East Gun Hill Road, one of its main arteries, is lined with delis, grocery stores and diverse eateries. Restaurants include many Caribbean and Jamaican staples like Code Red Lounge and Hummingbird Grill. Sal & Dom’s Pastry Shop has been serving cookies, Italian pastries and coffee to the Laconia community since 1956.
