Brookfield's luxury shopping and outdoor dining destination
On the outer edge of Brookfield the city, Brookfield Township is a collection of three small neighborhoods along Springdale Road. Stretches of the city separate the three areas, and its two northern neighborhoods are relatively quiet. However, the southernmost area is a commercial hub. “We have The Corners, which has been voted the best in shopping, with very high-end luxury names,” says town resident Angie Gunja, tourism director with Discover Brookfield. The town also has an active restaurant scene. “We have everything from pizza to tacos to French cuisine, so we really cover all the bases,” Gunja says. “Our area has a ton of outdoor seating, so it’s just glorious in the summer.”
Shopping at The Corners and dining at Brookfield's various eateries
Most shopping and dining in the area is just off Interstate 94, including The Corners of Brookfield, the luxury mall that draws shoppers from all over the region. Nearby restaurants include Hollander Grand Café, which offers two levels of indoor seating, an outdoor patio and a rooftop deck. “So many of our restaurants offer outdoor seating,” Gunja says. “In Wisconsin, you just want to soak up as much of the summer sun as you can.” Mimosa is a local favorite for brunch, with sweet dishes like pancakes and crepes, plus savory options like omelets and sandwiches. Kopp’s Frozen Custard serves four custard flavors, including two flavors of the day. Locals can call the flavor hotline for daily flavor updates. Nearby grocery options include an Aldi, Sam’s Club and Target.
Diverse housing options across the town of Brookfield
The southernmost portion includes a mix of split-levels, Cape Cods, New Traditionals, Colonial Revivals and ranch-style homes found among the curving streets and cul-de-sacs. A mix of young and old trees cast shade over small gardens. This section also includes apartments over The Corners and condos available in communities like Brookhill Preserve. In the town’s middle section, Holly Crest offers mostly ranch-style homes. The northernmost community has a few residential streets but is still being developed. Most homes range from $300,000 to $680,000. Brookfield Township has a CAP Index Crime Score of 2 out of 10, which is lower than the national average of 4.
Food truck festivals and Oktoberfest celebrations
The Corners hosts the Town Food Truck Festival throughout the summer, further highlighting the foodie scene in the town. “We have local food vendors, craft beer and live music,” Gunja says. “It’s great for the community of the town to get together, but people from the neighboring towns also come out and enjoy those summer nights.” In late September, the town celebrates Brooktoberfest, a German-inspired festival that includes polka music, dachshund races and beer stein holding contests. Many locals also head to The Improv for national comedy acts.
I-94 brings shoppers in and commuters to Milwaukee
I-94 goes through the center of the town’s southern portion. Not only does it bring people to the town’s retailers and restaurants, it also connects commuters with downtown Milwaukee, about 14 miles east. Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport is about 20 miles, and Ascension Southeast Wisconsin Hospital – Elmbrook is just over 2 miles away.
The Town of Brookfield's two public school districts
Even though the town of Brookfield is a smaller community, two school districts serve its students. Those living in the two northern sections will head to Elmbrook Schools, which receives an A-plus from Niche. The rest head to the School District of Waukesha, which receives a B-plus.
Local parks with playgrounds, pickleball and fishing
Brookfield Township is home to a few parks, all in the southernmost portion of the community. Marx Park includes a playground with a small rock-climbing structure for kids, tennis and basketball courts, and baseball fields. Wray Park is the only park in the town with pickleball courts, and it also has a nature path that runs past Poplar Creek. The creek also flows through Brook Park, which has two ponds popular for fishing. Eble Park Ice Arena offers open skating and ice hockey.
