Lenox Park has luxury homes close to major Atlanta retail
Life in Lenox Park offers access to popular retail areas while remaining in a quiet, relaxed suburban community. "It's an older neighborhood, but it's close to so many pockets of shopping districts and entertainment hubs," says Realtor Juli St. George with Keller Williams Realty. "There are the Brookhaven, Lenox, Buckhead and the Buford Highway shopping areas. That's definitely the draw." The neighborhood is also close to community parks, well-rated schools and public transportation, which makes this a family-friendly community that's becoming more and more desirable each year.
Prices are high, but home values are higher
Living in Lenox Park allows residents to live close to some of Atlanta's most popular retail areas, which affects housing prices. "Home prices are quite high there, but they're really well-maintained brick homes with beautiful yards and gardens. It has that great neighborhood vibe," St. George says. Single-family homes are clustered in woodsy, well-manicured subdivisions. There are mostly renovated ranch-style, Colonial Revival and New Traditional homes, many with elegant brick exteriors and large, decorative windows. Prices typically range between $775,000 and $1.5 million, but larger homes may often list between $2 million and $3.5 million. Lenox Park also offers multi-family communities for budget-friendly options. There are older townhouses and condos priced between $190,000 and $500,000, depending on the level of interior updates.
Dekalb County Schools and Midtown International School
Dekalb County Schools provides Lenox Park's public school pipeline. Students may start at Woodward Elementary, which earns an overall C rating from Niche. They may then attend C-minus-rated Sequoyah Middle and C-rated Cross Keys High. There are also several notable private schools across the area, including Midtown International School, which serves kindergarten through 12th grade and earns an A-plus.
Lenox Park and surrounding green spaces
Lenox Park may be more known for its vibrant retail and entertainment hub, but several community parks surround it. The neighborhood's namesake park is the largest, offering a quiet respite away from the excitement. Rich green lawns, a tree-shaded trail loop around two duck ponds and a dog park offer a space for neighborhood pups to run free. Nearby, Briarwood Park is another walkable outdoor space with two playgrounds, tennis courts, a picnic pavilion and a recreation center. The park also has a large community pool filled to the brim with families over summer break. Other green spaces include Langford Park, which has a modest wooden playground, and Shady Valley Park, which has sports courts and 11 acres of pine and oak woods.
Dining, shopping and entertainment in Buckhead and Lenox
The community sits next to two of Greater Atlanta's biggest, most beloved dining and retail areas, Lenox and Buckhead. Lenox Square offers classic retail chains like Lululemon and department stores like Neiman Marcus. Nearby, Phipps Plaza offers luxury stores like Cartier, Gucci and Bottega Veneta. It also has a LEGO Discovery Center, a movie theater and several upscale eateries like Davio's Northern Italian Steakhouse. They range from chains like Shake Shack to casual spots like Velvet Taco, a counter service taqueria, and fine dining establishments like tapas bar The Iberian Pig. The Buckhead Theater is a favorite place to catch shows from local and nationally known bands and artists. Plenty of grocery stores are nearby, including Trader Joe's and Whole Foods in Buckhead and a Costco and Walmart in Brookhaven. Residents also enjoy proximity to Downtown Atlanta, a big box store area surrounding Interstate 85 and Downtown Decatur's boutique shops and restaurants.
Close to major thoroughfares and MARTA stops
Lenox Park is close to major thoroughfares like Interstate 85, I-75, Highway 400 and Peachtree Road, all connecting to downtown Atlanta and the I-285 perimeter. Residents may use the MARTA station at Lenox and East Paces Ferry Roads to commute downtown or to the airport. There are also several MARTA bus stops and a bike lane system. The Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport is about 20 miles away. The closest medical center, Piedmont Atlanta Hospital, is 6 miles from Lenox Park. The community has a CAP Index Crime Score of three out of 10, just below the national number.
GreatSchools:
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.
