A small peninsula community along the Delaware River
During World War I, Brooklawn began as a small shipbuilding community along the Delaware River. Still, it was not until the 1950s that this small peninsula community truly earned its place on the map. Since 1952, the American Legion baseball team has been a great source of pride for Brooklawn residents, winning 23 state titles and two world series. The neighborhood has remained tight-knit, with families still gathering at the community park to watch young athletes practice for the next big game. Local Realtor with HomeSmart First Advantage Realty, Nicole McGinnis confirms, "It's a really close neighborhood where everybody knows everybody." She adds, "Many people have lived in Brooklawn their entire lives."

This small peninsula community offers an eclectic mix of home styles, ranging from multi-colored twin homes to 1970s split levels. Much like the homes, each yard is unique in Brooklawn. Some lawns are decorated with seasonal flags and garden gnomes, while others are kept simple, with well-groomed shrubs and brick-lined flowerbeds. With or without the ornaments, "residents love and take care of their properties in Brooklawn," McGinnis says. Throughout the neighborhood, tree-shaded sidewalks connect residential blocks to the community park along the Delaware River.

NFL watch parties at the Empire Sports Bar
Brooklawn offers a small-town shopping and dining experience with all the big-city amenities across the Delaware River. Residents can buy conventional groceries at the neighborhood ShopRite or shop locally at the family-owned Verchio's Produce & Deli. A roundabout separates two popular restaurants under the same management, Empire Diner and Empire Sports Bar. Bright neon lights glow outside and inside the diner, striking a fun '50s atmosphere. Over at the sports bar, residents can grab a beer, some American grub and watch the Philadelphia Eagles play on big-screen TVs. Gaetano's Steaks is a local staple that has been serving giant cheesesteaks and delicious pizzas since 1971.

The American Legion baseball team is Brooklawn’s pride and joy
One of the community's pride and joys is the American Legion baseball team, which practices on the riverside baseball fields at Brooklawn Community Park. After practice, kids can walk to the basketball courts to play a pick-up game with friends. The park's wooden gazebo is the perfect place for parents to sit and watch their little ones run around the brightly colored playground. Fur babies also have a place to play and socialize at the Brooklawn Dog Park. In the summer, residents can launch boats straight into the Delaware River from the park's community boat ramp.
