Affordable living in the center of Brooklyn Park

True to its name, Central Brooklyn is located right in the heart of Brooklyn Park, a Minneapolis suburb. Although most of the neighborhood is residential, it is surrounded by Brooklyn Park’s main amenities, shopping centers and park. Plus, while the northern part of the area offers newer homes selling for higher prices, communities like Central Brooklyn, developed back in the 1960s through ’80s, are comparatively more affordable. “It’s one of the most affordable areas to get a large, two-story home that’s newer,” says real estate agent Caleb Carlson with Real Broker. “You can still get great big homes with access to the things that people need.”

Central Brooklyn's neighborhood park and nearby recreational spaces

As in many Brooklyn Park neighborhoods, a neighborhood park sits in the center of Central Brooklyn. “They put a lot of emphasis on their neighborhood parks,” says Brooklyn Park resident Jon Perkins, Realtor with RE/MAX. “Everybody’s within two blocks of a community park in Brooklyn Park.” The small Sunny Acres Park includes a playground and a walking path around an open space. However, the neighborhood is also across the street from much larger Central Park, where kids can climb a three-story playground or sled down the hill when it snows. The park also offers basketball and tennis courts and a 9-hole disc golf course. Also across the street, the Community Activity Center has indoor amenities like a fitness room, an ice rink and a walking track. Outside, there’s a fishing pond and a skate park.
