Golfing at Edinburgh and exploring the Mississippi River
Edinburgh Golf Course winds through Edinburgh’s residential streets, with the fairways and greens backing up to homes and backyards. The French-style clubhouse hosts private events and houses the club grill, Tavern at Edinburgh. Hidden throughout the neighborhood, small green spaces like Rainbow Park, Brook Oaks Park and Edinbrook Park offer playgrounds within walking distance of most homes. A bit north of Edinburgh, Mississippi Gateway Regional Park’s 160 acres stretch along the Mississippi River. Visitors can view the water from the observation deck on the dam or fish along the shore. About 2 miles of trails offer hiking, biking and snowshoeing.Diverse housing options and styles throughout Edinburgh
Edinburgh’s winding streets lead to cul-de-sacs lined with single-family homes. Trees in front yards cast shade in the summer, and streetlights sit on the corners of most streets. Single-family homes typically sell between $300,000 and $500,000, though those sitting right on the course sell closer to $600,000 or $700,000. “Especially in the core of Edinburgh, you’ve got very unique and beautiful housing. They wanted to bring custom-build and more luxury homes,” says north Brooklyn Park native and Realtor Jon Perkins with RE/MAX, who has over 35 years of experience in the area. Fanning out from the golf course, homes are Colonial Revivals, New Traditionals and Victorian-influenced farmhouses. “They went for a more Scottish theme around the golf course,” Perkins says. “They had a more stringent control over the architectural design, but the further west they went, the less architectural control they had.” Glenhaven of Edinburgh, a 55-plus community in the neighborhood, offers ranch-style homes, townhomes and condos ranging from $160,000 to $310,000.Students attend Osseo Area Schools and Anoka-Hennepin Schools
Two school districts serve Edinburgh. The eastern half heads to Anoka-Hennepin Schools, starting at Monroe Elementary School, which receives a B from Niche, followed by Jackson Middle School, which receives a B-plus. Both are STEM magnet schools, putting science and technology at the forefront. Champlin Park High School, rated A-minus, is an International Baccalaureate school. Meanwhile, the west side of Edinburgh attends Osseo Area Schools. Woodland Elementary School receives a B, Brooklyn Middle STEAM School receives a C-plus, and Park Center Senior High School receives a B-minus. The high school is also an International Baccalaureate World School.Restaurants and shopping centers located within the community
The dinner menu at Tavern at Edinburgh’s features entrées like duck, short rib and halibut, adding to the neighborhood’s luxe feel. Edinburgh Festival Centre in the southeast corner of the neighborhood has Festival Foods and a Gold Lion Supermarket. Also in the area, Mi-Sant serves banh mi and croissants, plus coffee and boba tea behind its big front windows. Soke serves a variety of Asian cuisine, including Korean barbecue and hotpot.Driving along state routes to Minneapolis amenities
Edinbrook Parkway snakes through the neighborhood, with residential streets branching off. Brooklyn Park buses stop along 85th Avenue on the southern side of Edinburgh, and there are routes in the neighborhood itself. Nearby state routes 252 and 610 also help motorists get around Brooklyn Park and go 12 miles to downtown Minneapolis. Mercy Hospital – Unity Campus is about 8 miles away across the river, and Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport is about 25 miles south.Brooklyn Park's annual July festivals and concerts
Brooklyn Park hosts Jazz in July at the Community Activity Center in the middle of town. Local musicians perform for visitors settled on lawn chairs and picnic blankets. With the river so close to Edinburgh, residents can head to River Park Fest in late July, where local organizations come out to lead fishing, birding, biking and paddleboarding excursions.
