Broomfield Country Club is in a former farming town

Founded in 1877, the Denver suburb of Broomfield, then called Zang’s Spur, was a small farming community. The town’s name changed to Broomfield after the broomcorn grown by local farmers became popular. Broomfield became a popular destination once the Colorado and Southern Railway came to town, and neighborhoods, like Broomfield Country Club, were slowly established.

Most people own their homes in Broomfield Country Club

The median home price for this area is $850,000, prices range from $700,000 to $1 million, and 97% own their home. “The houses have big lots,” explains Nick Painz, managing broker with RE/MAX Alliance. “That means a lot of upkeep. There are very few rentals. This is not a good rental neighborhood.” The houses in this Colorado neighborhood are predominantly brick ranchers and contemporary homes built in the late 1970s and early 1980s. “There’s a good mixture of retirees, empty nesters and families here,” Painz explains. “These houses are move-up homes, not a first-time home.” Painz has sold homes in this neighborhood for six years. He adds that the homes, unless they have been renovated, do not have open floor plans. Denver is nearly 19 miles or a 30-minute drive away.

Locals hang out at Ellie’s Pond and Broomfield County Commons Park

There’s plenty to do in the outdoor spaces of the Broomfield Country Club neighborhood. You can take in the scenery of Ellie’s Pond, once known as the 10th Avenue Pond. The pond was renamed in 2015 to honor a local woman’s efforts to preserve the space, and it is a popular fishing hole for the neighborhood. “That whole area, that’s where you go to hang out,” Painz, a lifelong resident, says. Nearby Broomfield County Commons Park is a 300-acre park that features the County Commons cemetery, a dog park, more than 225 acres of open space, an 80-acre sports complex with synthetic fields and the Paul Derda Recreation Center. This park is also the site of the annual Great American Picnic in Broomfield, which features food, drinks, a bike parade and fireworks every Independence Day. There are also numerous designated open spaces and trails in Broomfield County to observe natural wildlife and foliage. With five lakes and more than 60 bunkers, the picturesque Eagle Trace Golf Club will challenge golfers of all skill levels.

Wing restaurants, taverns and grocery stores are easily accessible

Just off Lowell Boulevard is Outlaw Wings, where they serve up the traditional favorites of mild, medium and hot wings and also their own unique twist on the classic finger food — “Bootleg Blueberry” wings. These wings come slathered with a blueberry-based sauce that’s sweet and has a little bit of heat. If wings aren’t your thing, the North Side Tavern is a quick drive from Outlaw Wings. Stop in for a hot bowl of Colorado pork green chili and a deli bison Reuben, a sandwich piled high with corned bison. There are plenty of stores, including a Walmart Superstore, Whole Foods, FlatIron Crossing Mall and Broomfield Town Center, within a 5 to 10-minute drive, Painz says, making living in the Broomfield Country Club neighborhood convenient.
