North Broomfield offers suburban living with new homes and green space

North Broomfield is a rapidly growing suburban area in northern Colorado. Conveniently located near both Boulder and Denver, North Broomfield has become a sought-after bedroom community for commuters. Families are drawn to North Broomfield for the city’s ample outdoor and recreation spaces, its robust youth sports programs, well-rated public school systems and many newly built homes that fit a variety of needs and budgets. “The city’s planning placed a high emphasis on making Broomfield a residential community,” says Claire Gilmore, a Realtor at MB Kell & Company with over 20 years of experience. “Homes, parks and schools are all in the center of the city, and commerce is on the outskirts. This way, residents can feel like they are living in a small town with little commercial congestion, but bustling city conveniences are also close by. This is why North Broomfield, and Broomfield in general, is such a comfortable place to live. ”

Many new housing developments in North Broomfield

North Broomfield has some 1950s properties mixed with New Traditional, Mediterranean Revival and contemporary builds from the 21st century. Single-family homes typically go from $580,000 to around $1 million. Custom-built sprawling estates over 4,000 square feet can reach over $6 million, and many have multiacre lots with amenities like private pools and sports facilities, like those in the Spruce Meadows development. “Spruce Meadows is a hidden gem in Broomfield’s luxury market,” Gilmore says. “These mansions are usually $2.5 million to $6.5 million on 1 to 3 acres of land. As far as luxury properties go, this is a far more affordable option for getting estate-sized properties. A $5 million home here would be significantly higher, say around $10 million or $15 million, in Boulder or Castle Rock.” Duplexes and townhouses fall between $500,000 and $650,000, and some have monthly HOA fees.

Broomfield County Commons Park anchors the city

Located south of North Broomfield, the 300-acre Broomfield County Commons Park is the city’s central recreation hub. The park features 15 sports fields for a variety of sports like soccer, baseball and softball; playgrounds; walking trails; and a dog park. “One of the big things that brings a lot of people here is that the city has a really strong youth sports program,” Gilmore says. “If families want their kids to get involved in sports, then this is the place.” Broomfield Commons is also home to Paul Derda Recreation Center, which has an indoor aquatic park, an outdoor spray deck, an indoor track and gymnasium and several fitness studios. People can go fishing at Stearns Lake, and Carolyn Holmberg Preserve at Rock Creek Farm offers more trails for walks and wildlife viewing. In addition to the many pocket parks and green spaces that dot the community, North Broomfield is also near a number of golf courses, including the 18-hole Broadlands Golf Course that's open to the public.

Highly rated schools serve North Broomfield

Prospective primary schools in Adams 12 Five Star Schools include Coyote Ridge Elementary and Meridian Elementary School, both of which get an A-minus rating. Middle school options include Westlake Middle School and Rocky Top Middle School, and both schools have a B-plus. Legacy High School rates an A-minus and offers career and technical education in marketing, technologies and hospitality.

Mount Fuji Hibachi is down the street on Orchard Parkway, and Safeway is along West 144th Avenue. Many big-box stores and businesses are off Interstate 25, including Target, Walmart and Costco. The Orchard Town Center, an outdoor mall with department stores, shops, restaurants and a movie theater, is also in this area. FlatIron Crossing, the city’s premier indoor mall with over 200 retailers, is about 10 miles away.

Distance to Boulder and Denver

Many highways pass through the area, including Interstate 25, Northwest Parkway and U.S. Route 287. The city’s public transit is provided by the Regional Transportation District, and several bus stops are along Route 287. Boulder and Denver are both about 20 miles away, and Denver International Airport is approximately 25 miles southeast of the community. St. Anthony North Hospital borders North Broomfield on the south end.

Festivities in Broomfield

Broomfield Days is the city’s community celebration in September, featuring an annual parade, live entertainment, food trucks and family-fun activities. Broomfield Council on the Arts & Humanities organizes the Summer Sunday Festivals, which have free concerts, food trucks and craft and music workshops.
