Desert Foothills Estates
Mediterranean and Craftsman style housing near Bullhead City
Most homes in Desert Foothills Estates are ranch-style builds with stucco facades and tile roofs, but some multistory Craftsman houses are mixed in. Prices range from $300,000 to nearly $1 million, depending on home and lot size. “It’s a mix between [mass-produced] homes in gated subdivisions that were built in the mid-2000s when the neighborhood first sprung up, and custom builds that sprung up later outside the gated areas,” Rickets says. Properties sit on quiet, well-paved roads that only see residential traffic. Private driveways and multicar garages make parking easy, and paved sidewalks allow for walking and biking to neighbors’ houses. However, there aren’t many trees, meaning people outside won’t have shade to protect them from the unrelenting desert heat. Summer temperatures regularly exceed 110 degrees, so rock landscaping and cactus plants dot front lawns instead of grass. Some homes come with private pools.Laughlin Ranch Golf Club has a spa, pool and more
Laughlin Ranch Golf Club sits a few blocks south of the neighborhood. The club opened in 2004 and offers a challenging par 72 course with GPS-enabled carts and a full pro shop. The club also features a fitness center, a pool and a wellness center with spa and massage services. “It’s a public course, which is nice, and the amenities are great,” Rickets says. Just 3 miles down Laughlin Ranch Boulevard is the massive 376-acre Bullhead City Community Park. The park is on the banks of the Colorado River and has over a mile of beach access. The beach has volleyball courts and a buoyed swim area. Residents can bring their dogs to the fenced-in dog park or spend time with their children at the playground and splash pad areas.Bullhead Belle's dining on the Colorado River
The Ranch Bar & Grill is an upscale restaurant at Laughlin Ranch Golf Club. The menu offers pasta and burgers for lunch and dinner seven days a week, and brunch every Sunday morning. Residents who want to dine with a view of the water can head a few miles to Bullhead Belle. The restaurant is on the Colorado River and in a repurposed 65-foot mock paddle wheel boat. Diners sit on the boat, under the patio’s string lighting and view the river while eating nachos and pizza. Earl’s at the Castle is a medieval-themed diner with a bright yellow and purple exterior serving Mexican and American cuisine, and shopping is easily done at the Safeway, Sam’s Club and Family Dollar on Highway 95, within a few miles of the neighborhood.Sunrise Elementary has an Instructional Empowerment program
Kids in Desert Foothills Estates attend the Bullhead City School District, beginning at Sunrise Elementary School. Sunrise Elementary holds a C-plus Niche grade and an 18-to-1 student-teacher ratio. The school began implementing the Instructional Empowerment program in 2023, which teaches kids to be independent critical thinkers. Fox Creek Junior High and Mohave High School carry C ratings on Niche.Highway 65 to Las Vegas
The neighborhood has no public transportation, so a car is necessary. Locals can quickly reach Laughlin by taking Bullhead Parkway 5 miles west across the Colorado River. Las Vegas is 100 miles up Highway 95 and hosts the closest major airport.
