Living off Highway 95 with access to surrounding cities

Rio Lomas is a small subdivision straddling the busy Highway 95 corridor in Mohave County. Unlike the rest of the area, known for being remote and miles away from stores and restaurants, Rio Lomas has the Mohave Crossroads Shopping Center bordering it to the north. “Even though they’re not in the same city, let alone the same state, locals consider Laughlin, Nevada, Bullhead City, Arizona, Fort Mohave, Arizona and Needles, California, all connected,” says Tara McMullen of Premier Executives Real Estate, who is also a native of the area. “Rio Lomas is kind of right in the middle of this larger area, so you’re close to a lot of cool things, especially outdoor recreation.” The Colorado River, nature trails and parks are all nearby, and national retailers like Target, Kohl’s and PetSmart all have a presence here.

Fun at Colorado River Nature Center

Rio Lomas is primarily residential, but it’s close to plenty of parks and recreational areas. Just 1 mile south is Long Gone Escapes, which features four separate escape rooms, and the nearby Colorado River Nature Center has miles of trails and access to the river. “You almost have your own private beach, and there’s never any tourists,” says McMullen. The massive, 300-acre Rotary Park is about 4 miles down the road. A fishing pier and Colorado River beach access sit within the park, which also has boat launches, athletic fields and courts. Kids practice their tricks at the skate park, dogs chase each other at the dog park and people throw frisbees at the disc golf course. El Rio Golf Club is 6 miles away and has an 18-hole championship course with views of the Mohave Valley, as well as a stocked pro shop and driving range.

Walking to Mohave Crossroads Shopping Center

Many homes are within walking distance of Target, making it easy to pick up household necessities. Safeway is about 3 miles down Highway 95 for grocery shopping, and for a quick bite to eat, residents head to I Heart Tacos, a fast-casual Mexican spot with burritos and tortas. The eatery has a full bar and plenty of TVs to watch sports. Vito’s is a casual sit-down spot with big leather booths. Customers can order a pizza or other Italian specialties on the menu or help themselves to the salad bar. Cocktails is a local favorite for a night out. People shoot pool and throw darts or have drinks on the outdoor patio while listening to live music on the weekends.
