Claim a bit of tranquility with a home in Concord Township. This is a thoroughly rural swath of Butler County, where it’s not uncommon to find a property that stretches dozens upon dozens of acres, amidst a broad and heavily wooded landscape.
There aren’t a ton of homes across Concord Township, but the houses that hit the market here can sell relatively quickly — in the matter of a couple of weeks, says local Realtor Nick Supik of Century 21 Frontier Realty. “Of the seven homes that sold in the last six months, six sold in less than 50 days and one was on the market for a year,” says Supik, who has been selling for almost 17 years. Many of the options here are rambler-style. There are also quite a few mobile homes here. The lots in Concord Township are vast in some cases; the median size is close to 2 acres and some properties here stretch well over 100 acres. Some of the land here is used for farming. Properties in Concord Township dot winding country roads and homes typically sell for prices in the $100,000s.
Kids in Concord Township can attend schools in the Moniteau School District, starting at Dassa McKinney Elementary School for kindergarten to sixth grade. Dassa McKinney has a B-minus overall rating on Niche and student-teacher ratios of 15-to-1. Students can then move on to Moniteau Jr./Sr. High School, which has a C overall grade on Niche. Moniteau Jr./Sr. High School offers a dedicated vocational agriculture program with classes touching on agricultural business, agriculture mechanics and technology, animal systems, biotechnology and food science, engineering and design, natural resource management, plant systems, and wildlife and fisheries.
Concord Township residents can enjoy some outdoor time at Bruin Borough Community Park, a roughly 2-acre space with a playground and a couple of covered pavilions. They can also explore the nearby State Game Lands Number 95, which has more than 6 miles of bike and horse trails, a couple of fishing lakes in Glades and Harbor Acres, and hunting opportunities for deer, turkey and waterfowl.
Locals can grab a quick bite to eat at Berky's Pizza, Ice Cream and More, whose menu includes pizza varieties like buffalo chicken and chili cheese dog and where you can grab a scoop of two dozen different Hershey’s ice cream flavors, from peanut butter caramel cookie dough to road runner raspberry. Barhart’s Soft Serve is a popular pick in the area, too, for its ice cream but also for its sandwiches, with options ranging from BLTs to sloppy joes. Residents can also pick up some quick foodstuffs for a home-cooked meal at the joint Family Dollar and Dollar Tree in nearby Chicora.
Route 38 is the main road that runs through Concord Township and it can be used for trips south toward Pittsburgh, which is just about 55 miles away. And, here, that kind of connectivity comes without sacrificing the area’s true rustic character.
