Peaceful living in a collegiate Cambridge community
Tucked between Porter Square and Harvard Square, Baldwin is a pocket Cambridge community by the Charles River. Home to portions of Harvard University and Leslie University campuses and with over 56 percent of the population holding an advanced degree, Baldwin is embedded in a collegiate atmosphere. Residents here are often seen walking past art and history museums and academic buildings and wearing crimson Harvard sweatshirts. Bordering Massachusetts Avenue (known locally as Mass Ave) on the west, locals are steps away from area restaurants, cafes and shops that line the thoroughfare. Other public amenities such as a commuter rail station, city parks and reputable schools are also steps away, making living in Baldwin lively, convenient and desirable. “Baldwin is considered an extension of the Harvard Campus, and its residents are a blend of Harvard affiliates and longtime Cambridge residents,” says Gary Vrotsos, a broker associate at Coldwell Banker Realty with 18 years of experience who services the greater Boston area. “Baldwin has a very neighborhood feel. Even though it’s in the city, it’s a totally comfortable area to walk in, and you see lots of people commuting with alternatives to cars.”
