East End North is under 2 miles from the city center
Under 2 miles from downtown Canton, East End North is a convenient home base for commuters who want to avoid downtown housing prices. Homes in East End North are priced in the $60,000 to $120,000 range, and the median selling price is $66,000—around half of Canton’s median home price. “East End North is desirable for its relative affordability and the 2-minute drive to downtown,” says Robert Dale, Canton Realtor at eXp Realty.
Although the old Republic Steel Mill takes up a large portion of the neighborhood, its permanent closure has led to new residential construction. While East End North offers some parks and restaurants, such as Lee Park and Zavarelli’s Pizza, locals tend to travel downtown for shopping, dining and recreation. Public transportation options include the SARTA bus, which runs all over Stark County.

East End North houses are listed for half the price of those downtown
Bungalows and ranch-style homes dominate the housing market in the East End North neighborhood. Although bike lanes are uncommon, residential speed limits encourage drivers and bikers to share the road, while well-maintained sidewalks provide pedestrian options. Most homeowners enjoy private driveways, so street parking is not required. Homes are priced mainly between $60,000 and $120,000, but outliers, including larger homes or homes with large lots, can be priced closer to $200,000. Nearby parks offer sports, playgrounds and fishing
Lee Park, between 3rd Street SE and 4th Street SE by the Nimishillen Creek, has baseball and softball fields, a playground and basketball courts. Due to East End North’s proximity to Downtown Canton, residents can easily travel a short distance to larger parks. Nimisilla Park is one such option, larger than Lee Park and offering basketball courts, playgrounds, picnic pavilions, restrooms and chess tables. Close by is Cook’s Lagoon Park and Trail, a looping 0.3-mile limestone path that circles the pond. Grills, picnic tables and a stocked pond make Cook’s Park a Northside fishing destination.

First Fridays are a hit in downtown Canton
East End North residents are close to community events held downtown. “One of the coolest things about Canton is First Fridays, a downtown event held on the first Friday of every month,” says Dale. The events are themed, and the themes change monthly. One month, the ‘Par-Tee’ event turned downtown hot spots into mini golf courses for attendees to play through. According to Dale, the event brings in locals from all around the city, not just those living downtown. “It’s a huge attraction,” says Dale.
Bus rides take locals throughout Canton
Residents have access to the SARTA bus, which runs through all of Canton and surrounding areas. The area is car-dependent and relatively bike-friendly, but plenty of sidewalks allow locals to walk within the neighborhood.
